Re: Uneven recording

If the problem is insufficient tracking weight (probably unlikely with a cheap turntable) then you could try with a record that does not matter putting some very light metal rings (maybe even a very light coin) on top of the cartridge. Try centered, or a little to either side.

Re: Sound Blaster Audigy FX Windows 10

Thanks for the response. I was able to install 2.1.3 tonight. No change in the error message which is " Error while opening sound device. Please check the recording device settings and the project sample rate." I get this when I try to record with WASAPI, MME, or Direct Sound. And yes I d...

Re: recording inexplicably stops after a few minutes

Although I do have pulseaudio installed the dropdown only shows ALSA. That dropdown does not show pulse. The "default" and "pulse" recording device choices (and probably others) all use pulse. As Steve suggested, have you tried the "hw: 0, <some number>" recording choi...

Re: Saving files in Red Book Format

LPCM is generally used for low bit-rate/low quality audio. No. That's wrong. Good. I thought it was. ;) The export format referred to in Audacity as "WAV (Microsoft) signed 16-bit PCM" is "LPCM". I "think" so too from what I have seen buried in libsndfile. Gale

Re: Audacity 2.1 crashes

if I try and load an already existing file the program crashes. Do you open an Audacity project (AUP file) or import an audio file (like an MP3 or WAV)? What version of wxWidgets is 2.0.5 built with? Look at Help > About Audacity... then the "Build Information" tab. If it says wxWidgets 3...

Re: Stereo Mix feedback in windows 7

For some reason (on this new laptop but not on the old one) the volume slider for Stereo Mix (in windows mixer) gets linked to the normal system playback and I can see a horizontal line connecting across that links the two sliders together. I have never seen a Stereo Mix slider in Windows Volume Mi...

As well as answering Koz's question, please look at the pink panel at the top of this page and give us all three Audacity version numbers.

Re: Saving files in Red Book Format

Standard audio CDs use PCM, not LPCM. That differs from these references: http://wiki.multimedia.cx/?title=PCM#Red_Book_CD_Audio https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compact_Disc_Digital_Audio though https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulse-code_modulation confuses the picture by referring to CD with the gener...

Re: Erratic volume and pan slider behavior while playing

As I said, 2.11 and the like are not supplied by us. Where did you obtain "Audacity 2.1-4.3" from? I suggest you trash all your Audacity versions. Next, install an anti-virus app and run the most thorough check possible. Then go to http://audacityteam.org/download/mac and install 2.1.2. Pl...
