Re: Background noise while recording a song
In other words, choose the input you connected to the computer, not the internal mic, in Audacity's Device Toolbar . If you only have one audio input port, it is either going to give you mono or poor quality stereo. Most people in that position would be advised to buy a USB interface like these to p...

Re: Play function frozen
Assuming you are using the built-in sound card for playback, it is possible it does not have correct drivers. See Updating Sound Device Drivers.
Also have you done a thorough anti-virus check recently?

Re: Mute and unmute microphone while recording?
Maybe what plbio needs is an effect which is the opposit of Truncate Silence I.e. one which would detect a short silence and expand it out to "n" (parametrisable) seconds, 5 in this user's case. That is what Extend Silences does - see my first answer. We don't have that officially publish...

Re: MY SOUND IS DIFFERENT THROUGHOUT THE SONG
If you are recording with a microphone directly connected to the computer, you may need to turn off "Enhancements" in Windows: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... hancements .

Thanks for the updates. To be clear, VS2015 is not supported. There is at least one snprintf issue you will have to work around http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=302572#p302572 . Feel free to let us know how you get on though. Also as Leland explained, if you are thinking of contributing...

Assuming this is a branded computer like HP or Dell, look on that computer manufacturer's site. Here is a useful link: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Updat ... ce_Drivers.lippincott10 wrote:I will look for driver updates for the sound card.

Re: Exporting true stereo file
I could find a procedure to loose one channel: - Create new project, add mono track. - import audio (I used a bird recording) - add another mono track - paste another mono audio, copied from another project (I used a guitar recording) The first track ends up empty, with a wallpaper like background,...

Re: Set and save multiple selections
I'm testing Audacity, and if possible I'd like to know if there is a way to make multiple selections on an audio track and save them as a new single file. It's actually easier to drag-select and manually delete (DELETE key) the audio you don't want, then File > Export the remaining audio. If you wa...

Re: Exporting true stereo file
Have you got steps to reproduce that? The mono sound should be duplicated into both channels of a stereo track.cyrano wrote:if I want to paste a mono sound into a stereo channel, it gets pasted to a new track.

Re: Stereo Mix feedback in windows 7
I read that WASAPI is better quality than Stereo Mix, is that so? WASAPI loopback should be entirely digital, as opposed to stereo mix conversion from digital to analogue and back to digital. Depending on the device you can "usually" WASAPI-loopback record without having to hear the audio...
