Re: can't open project

To save an image next time you need one, press the Windows key and type "Snip" (without quotes). Then you can use Windows Snipping Tool to save a PNG image file.

Or you could move your data to a couple of different online servers, or buy an external hard drive.

Re: Sternberg UR44 and Audacity

Most third-party drivers that allow multi-channel input without ASIO only do so on XP and earlier. There is some limitation on Windows 7 and later, as cyrano alludes to. I think Paul could try Voicemeeter http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr/Voicemeeter/ . It has an ASIO interface that can record up...

Re: Timer recording in background

I am using the Windows 7 platform on a desktop computer with Audacity' program rather than an app. I use the term "app" for a tablet program. For "app", read "program". Windows 10 refers to apps now, not "programs", even when running on a desktop machine. I w...

Re: Importing MP3 Fedora 23

The message is self-explanatory. You are presumably using a packaged build of Audacity supplied by Fedora which does not allow import of MP3 due to licensing concerns. Please see the pink panel at the top of the page for how to give us your Audacity version number. Assuming you don't want to compile...

Re: Not encoding to specified bitrate

Encoding, not ripping. I changed your subject title accordingly. If you use variable bit rate you must accept there will not be a precise ratio between length of file and outcome bit rate, but that the outcome bit rate will depend on the material. If for example you export a mono speech track or a s...

Re: Windows 10 volume problem

Windows "Sound" can be accessed by right-click over the speaker icon by the system clock. Did your computer come with Windows 10 or did you install Windows 10 on top of previous Windows? If the latter, then assuming it's a branded computer like HP or Lenovo, you must go to the computer man...

Re: Trouble with Plug-Ins (effect button)

Only download Audacity from us http://audacityteam.org/download/windows . Use the installer (EXE) and enable the box "Reset Preferences" half way through the installation process. When you launch Audacity, confirm you want to reset Preferences. If you want to use built-in effects like Equa...

Re: Build issues, v2.1.2, in OS X 10.11 with Xcode 7.3

Have you read the other posts on the Forum about using Xcode greater than 7.1? Start from here and read down http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=303832#p303832 . Audacity does not support wxWidgets 3.1, only 3.0.2. So you are on your own if you want to use later wxWidgets. It pays to read ...

Re: Timer recording in background

What is you want to do while Timer Record is running? Just task switch (ALT + TAB) to the other apps you want to use. I am writing this while doing a Timer Record from another tab in the web browser.

If Audacity was maximised, maximise the app you want to work in.
