Re: Turn off opening banner?
You can change the time when Automatic Maintenance occurs , though many on Windows 10 find that Windows Update can occur at any time regardless. Windows Update is what is likely to be draining of resources, not defragging, though I rarly find more than 30% CPU use when Windows 10 Update is running. ...

Re: Exporting WAV for telephone answering machine
Please see here for how to attach files: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 49&t=64936. You can attach PNG or JPG images.
Can you attach an example of a file that plays in the answering machine? Then we can examine the file to determine what type of WAV file it is.

Re: No audio on recording
just tried getting the files from the SD card in the computer. Should be on disc F but couldn't find the H2 or SD card icon anywhere. Open Windows Explorer, then the SD card should be mounted as a drive at bottom left. Double click that drive then the files from it should be on the right in Explore...

Re: recording problem
I was really beginning to doubt whether my mixer was compatible with Audacity, and I decided to return it to the (internet)shop, and ordered another mixer, which should definately be compatible. I hope to receive it tomorrow, and hope even more that I will have no problems this time. USB mixers don...

Re: Building wxWidgets for XP
The official Audacity download has an exe built for XP (subsystem 5.01), but it uses wxWidgets DLLs built for Vista and later (subsystem 6.00). Presumably, the 2.1.2 wx DLLs were built with the default VS2013 C++ configuration, v120 whereas the Audacity was built with v120_xp. If so, then they were...

Re: New User-Cassette to MP3
It also looks like it's greyed-out, so maybe nothing is actually selected??? Device Toolbar always greys out when playing, recording or paused, even if the recording is stalled. For the stall problem, restart the computer. Make sure the EZCap is connected to an empty USB port, not to a USB hub conn...

Re: Audacity File Lost Or Was It
I then closed Audacity expecting the pop-up to appear asking me to name the file Although closing a program will often produce a prompt for you to save your work, that's not a good thing to rely on (as you have discovered). If you want to save the Audacity project, use "File menu > Save Projec...
Re: No Sound
Thanks for your advice but still no sound. Still no sound playing where? In the USB speakers when you are recording with the ART? Are you connecting ART and the USB speakers to separate, empty USB ports? You should not use a USB hub connected to a USB port. Disconnect ART. Connect the USB speakers ...

Re: Recording/Record Button Problem
Thanks for the information. That Ext switch doesn't seem to be mentioned in the User manual (for Duo-Capture-EX, anyway). You could try increasing "Audio to buffer" in Audacity's Recording Preferences. On Mac and Windows there is a control panel where you can adjust the Roland buffer size,...

Re: Audcacity can't import MP4
You may have to install an additional component called FFmpeg into Audacity to play [and edit] that file format That was true in Audacity 2.1.0, due to a bug http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=84958 . I would just update to Audacity 2.1.2 from http://audacityteam.org/download/ma...
