Re: can't reopen a saved project

The average user doesn't think in "projects", but in "documents" and expects all data to fit in one file. That's the problem in a nutshell. The solution that I (and I think most of us prefer) is for Audacity to be able to save a project as "one file" (a unitary project...

Re: can't reopen a saved project

A solution could be to ask a question when creating a new project: "Do you want all data to be copied into the project (BIG file) or do you want the project to link to the audio files you will be importing (Don't move project and source files!)" We already ask that now by default, when fi...

Re: Very loud buzzing/squeaking sound

When i was buying the mic few years back, it was recommended to me, to buy usb dongle external sound card, that its supposed to work better with it. And to my surprise it did. I would expect that to be less noisy in theory, because you are using a USB sound device rather than a sound device inside ...

Re: Key bindings little problem

Checked in Help > About Audacity... it's wxWidgets 3.0.2 Here is the way to reproduce the problem: 1. Import audio 2. Press F2 to switch to envelope tool (everything is okay, envelope tool cursor appears) 3. Make some envelope points (everything is okay) 4. Keep the mouse pointer on audio track and...

Re: Very loud buzzing/squeaking sound

If you have installed new software that runs all the time and makes the computer work harder, that could be enough to cause the noise. Conversely on some machines when the CPU is working at full speed, it is silent, but when the workload is lower, the CPU goes into power-saving mode and that mode cr...

There are lots of articles and videos online to help OS X users who have switched from Windows. See for example http://www.asiteaboutnothing.net/c_mac- ... users.html.

Re: 44100hz

Do you have mono or stereo tracks that you want to export? If you have mono tracks, and you don't move the L....R pan slider on the tracks, you need do nothing. The MP3 export will be mono whether you choose Joint Stereo or Stereo. It means "choice of stereo encoding if the tracks are stereo&qu...

Re: Very loud buzzing/squeaking sound

It is only a standard computer mic that will pick up all noises close to the motherboard. Professionals would be inclined to use a mic with an XLR connector in a USB interface or with a USB mic pre-amplifier, unless their computer has a proper stereo line-in in which case they might connect the mic ...

Re: recording

2.0.3 is very old now. I recommend you upgrade to the current Audacity 2.1.2 from http://audacityteam.org/download/mac . Then the online Manual http://manual.audacityteam.org/ will match with your Audacity version. Then see this Tutorial Recording with USB turntables or USB cassette decks . Connect ...
