Re: can't reopen a saved project
#1 benefit is that it is one file. You can't "lose your show" by renaming the _data folder but if the project has dependencies and you rename, move or delete one or more of the files on which the project depends, then you still lose your show. Yes, we allow that feature, with warnings. Si...

Re: Consider a project of only unmodified tracks to be "clea
A fairly standard method is to add a star to the tab or window title when the unit in question is dirty. See CodeBlocks, Eclipse, gedit... I would personally like to see that anyway. But only a fractional percentage of our users will have seen an application that does that, so it will be lost on th...

Re: Consider a project of only unmodified tracks to be "clea
Having a rigorously defined concept of what constitutes a dirty project allows the program to only ask when necessary, and keeps users from developing muscle memory that causes that prompt to be useless. Because I (and I think Edgar) have both suffered from that "muscle memory" problem I ...

Re: Consider a project of only unmodified tracks to be "clea
So, my follow-up idea is to have an option to consider a project consisting only of imported, but unmodified, tracks to be "clean" and not ask to save the project. In this case, the damage to a user's work is rather limited; they can only have added a set of files to the project, but not ...

Re: can't reopen a saved project
Surely the number one benefit of a "unitary project format" is that it is self contained. What other benefits are there? #1 benefit is that it is one file. You can't "lose your show" by renaming the _data folder and there is only one file you can open - the AUP file. If the &quo...

Re: Marking unwanted sections of interview
Mine is 2.1.2. I downloaded it yesterday but I can't remember where from. It was almost certainly the main site as I try to avoid third party download sites. If the problem is that "C" types in the label, press ENTER or RETURN on your keyboard to confirm and close the label, then C will C...

Re: Audacity won't open .aup files (Audacity 2.0.3)
That doesn't appear in the Subject Index, Managing Projects or Advanced Topics. The Subject Index has not been worked on for years. I think "Recovering crashes manually" is linked to acceptably and does not absolutely need a link on the front page of the Manual. See http://alphamanual.aud...

Re: Marking unwanted sections of interview
This is what I am talking about:- Play Cut Preview C Plays by default for two seconds before the current selection and one second after the current selection, as if the current selection had been cut or deleted. This is useful for previewing what the audio will sound like after the cut. The default...

Re: Consider a project of only unmodified tracks to be "clea
For illustration, consider this fairly extreme case: 1) Import 30 audio files (perhaps recordings of individual instruments) 2) Arrange the audio clips into 8 tracks and carefully position each audio clip. 3) Delete the empty tracks 4) Carefully adjust the track Pan and Gain sliders for each track ...

Re: Consider a project of only unmodified tracks to be "clea
A Project is always clean until it's audio is modified I think I'm close to your position on this Edgar, but I'd rein it back a bit. For illustration, consider this fairly extreme case: 1) Import 30 audio files (perhaps recordings of individual instruments) 2) Arrange the audio clips into 8 tracks ...
