Re: Project can not be retrieved
When I hit the back space key the waveform disappeared. I then closed and saved changes to the project. The undo does not do anything You have to Undo (hold CTRL and press Z) before closing the project. If you tell Audacity to close and save an empty track, it won't ask you whether you really mean ...

Re: Retrieve file after crash is silence
If I corrupt the first AU file by removing its headers, only that portion ot the project is silenced (visually and audibly).kozikowski wrote:You can force a project into graphic flatline by damaging the lead au file. It's a graphic file. That may have changed. Doesn't affect the sound.

Re: Recovering recordings without aup file.
The Audacity version can be found at Help > About Audacity... . It is probably Audacity 2.0.0 if you obtained it from Ubuntu - it is really old now.

Re: Consider a project of only unmodified tracks to be "clea
How about if we be a little smarter in the code; as proposed, give user the ability to turn off the "save changed" nag (hiding it behind some "advanced" shield if desired) only for "not very dirty" Projects (defined minimally as having imported audio which has not been...

Re: AUP File Won't Open, Nothing Has Been Moved
There must be a reason it happened. Was the computer shut down before you the project save completed? Was that the first save of the project? If not and you have System Restore enabled on the drive, there might be a "previous version" of the file if you right-click the AUP file, Properties...

Re: Problem with piano sound
I've just tried recording the piano through AUDIO KONTROL using Voice Recorder and sounds ugly as well, that's unfortunate. OK so you can be satisfied Audacity is not at fault, if the problem is the same with every seven samples silenced. That looks more like a driver problem than the computer not ...

Re: Recording online audio in El Capitan
I assume the discontinuities and extraneous noises could be solved by reducing "Audio to Buffer" in Audacity's Recording Preferences.

Re: Recording online audio in El Capitan
Try turning up the volume of whatever you are recording in the web browser player, or if it is a song on YouTube or other popular site, try to download the video instead. You can search online to find out how. When you have the video you can install FFmpeg then you can import the video file into Aud...

Re: Consider a project of only unmodified tracks to be "clea
Steve has his vote counted as "if user had not edited the project/had only imported files". I'm supporting tcbrack's proposal to have an option to consider a project consisting only of imported, but unmodified, tracks to be "clean" and not ask to save the project. In this case, ...
