Re: Electronic Drums and Audacity

Audacity cannot record MIDI, which is why you are receiving answers about how to make the output of the drum kit into audio so that Audacity can record it. You don't want to record audio because then you would have to convert the audio to MIDI, which almost never sounds right. You will either have t...

Re: How to 'Uncompress' Audio File

Audacity saves an Audacity project (AUP) or exports an audio file. If you are talking about lossy file size compression, like MP3, save a project if you want to change the audio later. The project's audio is lossless. MP3 degrades every time you re-export. If you are talking about dynamic range comp...

Re: Audacity 2.1.2 Сохраняет не в тот формат

Eventually, Save / Manage Curves will probably be replaced with the presets system in the Manage menu, which currently does not work properly. Hopefully the Import / Export feature for those presets will remember the last folder used.

Re: Record a stereo signal

Please try the suggestion that has already been made to you. Connect the iCconnex so you can see it on the Recording tab of Windows Sound (the same tab that you have in the screen capture). If the Microphone 4-USB Audio CODEC is the iConnex, right-click over that. In the window that opens, click the...

when I want to zoom in on the track, it makes the waves big. It's the 1.0 0.5 0 -0.5 -1.0 , I mean. :) Don't zoom over the vertical scale to left of the blue waves. Zoom over the blue waves themselves. That said, you can't really zoom at the absolute start of the track, the way that feature is now....

Re: Export audio newbie question

if you wanna know what I'm trying to do really is, use Audacity as a metadata editor because it sees metadata none of the other programs I've tried do. Which is funny, because they are tag editors which are supposed to do just that! And as you can imagine with about 900 mp3s I won't be finished til...

Re: Electronic Drums and Audacity

VST is a plugin format. Some VST plugins can work with MIDI input if put in a "host" application that can accept the plugins. Then such a host might be able to provide an audio output that Audacity can record form. But you may have to pay a lot for a host or plugin that is good enough to d...

Re: faulty tools!

Hi Uriel, yes, please see the pink panel at the top of the page and tell us what version of Audacity you are using (all three numbers). It sounds like your Audacity is out of date. Please obtain the current 2.1.2 version here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ . whenever I try to cut out a segment o...

Re: Electronic Drums and Audacity

A deaf MIDI editor. Works for me. As far as I know, all we have to do to enable MIDI playback is to fix some crashes that occur if you have Mixer Board open, and make sure MIDI support compiles if enabled. I'm going with a blanket Audacity doesn't support MIDI and let somebody else patiently explai...

Re: D R A F T

USB audio CODEC keeps disappearing. Are you connecting the USB turntable before launching Audacity? Audacity cannot automatically update its device list if you add a new device after Audacity is running. If you do that, use Transport > Rescan Audio Devices in the Audacity menu bar. I am trying to c...
