Re: Orphaned files, tracks there but no audio

The aztecs part 2 file disappeared when the crash happened (rendering the original version unopenable), You mean, the "2.5 aztec part 2_data" folder disappeared? Orphan files do not silence the project in Audacity 2.1.3. I expect there are missing audio data block files. Please open Help > Show Log...

Re: 10 bit, 12 kHz uncompressed no header output

I guess you could try SoX with the -b parameter: http://sox.sourceforge.net/sox.html. It is a command-line application.

Downloads are at https://sourceforge.net/projects/sox/files/sox/.

Re: Audacity UI: Assign favourite effects to buttons?

Not as smooth as user-assigned buttons because it's still accessing the menu then effects using mouse/trackpad then keyboard to select the effect. If the menu had keyboard shortcut keys (eg: "CTRL+ALT+E" to get to the effects menu), then your suggestion would be a good compromise. Press ALT then lo...

Re: Saved AUP is Blank when Opened

The "can't delete" is a minor Audacity bug. The problem is "can't open" the files in the _data folder. Is there a solution? Fix the permissions problems as I described, or copy the AUP files and _data folders to another folder. "Access is denied" in the log is very clear. The files are in PUBLIC an...

Re: Saved AUP is Blank when Opened

The only characters that you cannot use in file names on any version of Windows are these: \ / : * ? " < > | This has not changed in Windows 10. Basically true, but valid file names on Windows are a bit more restrictive than that, and there can be problems with Unicode characters on some external d...

Re: Ctrl-[ and Ctrl-] collapse select region

There are good reasons why clicking in the label should select all the tracks. I don't fully know your workflow, but you could navigate into the label you want to copy by keyboard, which doesn't change track selectedness. You can move focus to the required label track with Up or Down arrow then TAB,...

Re: Saved AUP is Blank when Opened

By the way, someone trimmed the log, so it only shows opening one project. As I said on [email protected], don't save projects to network locations unless you are prepared to deal with permissions and congestion issues. Gale Gale, what is a congestion issue? Not being on a network, I don't consider "Public...

Re: Saved AUP is Blank when Opened

20170429 Tracks #58 hr 1 & 2 Is that a common show name for you? Win10 may have changed the character acceptance, but historically it could create problems if you put characters such as & and # in a filename. Good to know. More sadness about Win10. Koz has a thing about using punctuation in file na...

Re: 10 bit, 12 kHz uncompressed no header output

Is this something your science teacher asked for? Might they have meant 8-bit?

Or do you mean NICAM?

Do you have an application that can play the file you want to export?
