Re: Allen & Heath QU32 board issues
USB is not infallible, especially with extreme numbers of channels. Are you using USB 2.0 or only 1.1? The distorted section of your bad sample has a few dropouts as well. How long is it since you completely shut down and restarted the computer? The nose is prominently seen in the Spectrogram. Gale

Re: Need to Increase Audio Level in Video
You'll need a video editor to re-combine the edited audio with the video. Avidemux is worth trying. If the audio is compatible with the video format, it can "mux" the replacement audio into a copy of the original video, so avoiding re-encoding the video which will almost certainly degrade...

Re: Audacity 2.1.2 with Windows 10 freezes during editing
When working with a file, Audacity has started taking long naps. This problem arose a few weeks ago (mid-May or early June, 2016). For example, after Audacity performs a high pass filter function, it freezes for a minute or two before it can do anything else. That one is a known Audacity slow down,...

Re: Why is Audacity Importing MKV audio at 16bit?
The import behaviour depends on the importer. You are using FFmpeg to import MKV, and for MP3 content, that means the MP3 audio in the MKV will import as 16-bit resolution PCM audio. MP3's are a 32-bit float stream as I understand it. The author of the libmad MPEG decoder library told me so. Regardl...

Re: Reactivate Recording?
What version of Mac OS X exactly do you use? What are the make and model numbers of the microphone and mixing board? Are you trying to record from the microphone, or something else? You choose recording devices in Audacity in Device Toolbar . If you connect an external device that uses Firewire or U...

Re: error while opening sound device. please check the input
Toujours SVP do...

Or you can make small selections over five seconds and export each selection from Analyze > Plot Spectrum... .jarydmiles wrote:Ok, but is it possible to export numerical spectral data over time. I.e. Sound pressure level over say, 20 - 200Hz, over a recorded time of 5 seconds?

Re: changing Quality Slider doesn't change file size
Sorry, the slider does not work with the FFmpeg version that we recommend, as described in the 2.1.2 Release Notes. There are workarounds mentioned in that link.

Re: Audacity doesn't recognise my Keyboard?
Is there anything I'm missing on the Audacity side of things? Choose the correct external mic recording device in Audacity's Device Toolbar . You won't hear what you are playing unless you enable Software Playthrough in Audacity, which will be delayed playthrough through the computer, or unless you...

Re: Noise Reduction Options Changed!
Sensitivity is no longer in dB. It is a positive scale from 0 (off) to 24 (maximum).MarcusAurelius wrote:Any reason you lowered the sensitivity a decibel?

The default noise reduction amount in the old effect was 24 dB.
