Re: Removing vocals in Windows 10 [CLOSED]
No, I'm using Invert. Here's the sequence: 1. Import Audio 2. Split Stereo Track 3. Select one track and under Effects select Invert 4. Switch both tracks to Mono 5. Export This has worked perfectly in the past under Windows 7. No longer works under Windows 10. You must have done something wrong. I...

Re: Audacity Launch Problem
Audacity 2.1.0 was running when the hydro flinched. It shut down my computer. Can you use some other words for "hydro flinched"? Do you mean the computer lost power? What model number of Mac is it? Does it use battery power? My Mac is using Yosemite 10.10.5. When I started up again I coul...

Re: Ubuntu 16.04 Audacity 2.1.2
@steve yes, my devices (in other apps mic works perfectly) You must connect the mic before launching Audacity, as we said. Where did Audacity 2.1.2 come from? Is this Ubuntu Studio? This is only likely to be two problems - some other application or service has exclusive ownership of the audio devic...

Re: Stuck in playback
It's not really known about. Is it standard play, or Timeline Quick-Play, or scrubbing (CTRL + left-click in the waveform)? Is it a USB playback device? If so, rebooting the computer may help. Have you tried SPACE on the keyboard as well as the Stop button? You could exit Audacity, create a "Po...

Re: Confusion: Importing from MP3 Windows Media
Turn on View > Show Clipping in Audacity. If you see a pile of red vertical bars in the waveform then your audio is above the 0 dB distortion level. Are these imported files MP3? If so, Effect > Amplify... and OK may reduce some of that audible distortion because MP3 can carry some audio above 0 dB....

Re: Ubuntu 16.04 Audacity 2.1.2
Have you installed PulseAudio Volume Control (pavucontrol)? Sometimes that helps. Is some application or service taking exclusive control of the built-in sound card? If so then PulseAudio won't get access and Audacity won't see any devices through ALSA either. Did you connect the USB mic before laun...

Re: Change Tempo Visually Using Waveform
I might also add that I've noticed the Sliding Time Scale feature does a massively better job of changing the tempo than just "Change Tempo", meaning the resulting quality is so much better. So if a visual method of tempo change makes it into Audacity, I'd be hurting the project if I didn...

But does the corrupted "waveform", wherever it is, always correspond with corrupted audible playback?kozikowski wrote:The damage moves around. That's a quote from the posting. It jumps to a different location in the same track.

Re: Importing Raw Data from Zoom H6 SD card image, recover a
When I try to change the bit depth from the drop tab on the channel, Audacity stops responding. I'm guessing that Audacity does not normally do that. You're aware that with 16 hours of audio, just about everything in Audacity will be slow? That operation should have a progress dialogue on it, I thi...

Re: Audacity not picking up mic
We can't really comment about it. You did not say what version of Audacity you have (see the pink panel at the top of the page) or how the pre-amp or mic is interfaced to the computer.
