Koz's famous "duelling posts". I wasn't told Steve had posted, although I previewed.

Re: detecting and slowing tempo of voicemail .wav files
If the recording has dropouts where something was spoken but not captured, that can't be corrected and needs to be fixed before recording. Some people use limiting to deal with spikes. If there are "mouth smacks" there is an experimental De-Clicker for speech plugin. There is Change Tempo ...

Re: fixed recording problem
If your computer is a branded model, it has a built-in sound card on the motherboard. What Koz is saying is that lots of users connect line-level (strong signal) outputs to microphone ports on computers or sound cards because that is the only input, but it's often the wrong input. Mic inputs are wro...

Re: Ubuntu 16.04 Audacity 2.1.2
@Gale Reinstalling after removing this repo didn't change nothing. Exactly what did you reinstall? You could uninstall the Ubuntu 2.1.2 repo version and install the 2.1.2 Ubuntu Handbook version. You could open a terminal, type: aplay -l hit ENTER and post what that says. See aplay man page . You m...

Re: What Have I Done?!?
There is nothing to recover as far as Audacity is concerned.
If your Mac uses an older spinning disk drive, you could try disk recovery software. Install that application on and recover to another drive. Don't be surprised if there is nothing to recover.

Re: Capturing Sound From iTunes
I need to make some 30 second sound samples of my original tracks that I have in iTunes. Whatever I try - seems to be capturing both iTunes and the mic on my computer. So if I am talking - the audacity file has me talking and the iTunes track seems very distant. I have tried every setting, still no...

Re: Can't get it going
Did you install Windows 10 over previous Windows on the same machine? If so you need to go to your computer manufacturer's web site to look for Windows 10 drivers for your specific computer model. This may be why you have no recording devices. Also you have selected Display Audio as your playback de...

Re: My Audacity 2.1.2 no longer works
As Koz said, you have to choose the correct recording device in Audacity's Device Toolbar. For recording computer playback, that probably means choose Windows WASAPI host and the (loopback) recording device for the same device you are playing the sound on. See this link: http://manual.audacityteam.o...

Re: My Audacity 2.1.2 is no longer working.
I've been using Audacity 2.1.2 with Windows 10 for weeks now with no issue, however I sat down to record some audio with my normal set up and Audacity simply wouldn't record, I clicked the record button and got zero movement from my soundbar. What is the make and model number of the microphone? I w...

Re: Need a little help with a Skype recording hack.
I use the built-in Windows Sound Recorder (yes, very primitive) for my side of the conversation, and Audacity - Stereo Mix for the incoming side of the conversation from Skype. So...please pardon the long intro - it's for anyone else doing the same thing. Here is my question: The volume at which Au...
