Can you explain what that means. Current Audacity supports graphical interface in VST, LV2 and Audio Units (Mac OS X).

Re: static noise in raw data only

Also, you can't use Audacity to give you information about bit depth of a file because it converts imported audio to PCM if it isn't already and by default expands it to 32-bit float. M4A files don't have bit depth in any meaningful sense. Probably you want to search for an M4A validation or repair ...

Re: Delete multiple 'blank space'

This is why we ask in the pink panel at the top of the page for your exact version of Audacity and exact version of Linux. ;)

If you need help updating Audacity, please tell us your exact Linux version. It looks like Ubuntu but your profile says "other" Linux.

There is no guarantee anything will change for the next release. It is possible given the new version of Widgets that there could be a crash risk in enabling transport shortcuts while mouse is down.

Re: Delete multiple 'blank space'

Imagine an unsliced loaf of bread. The loaf represents the audio i start with. I then want to slice the bread. Each slice representing each audio section. I then take out every second piece and place them on another track. So did you do that by Cut and Paste? From what you have written, click somew...

Re: Ubuntu 16.04 Audacity 2.1.2

What version of Audacity did you reinstall, exactly? You have playback devices. And arecord -l should show you recording devices. If Audacity still does not see those devices, type this in a terminal and hit ENTER ps -A > ps.txt This saves a list of your running processes to the file "ps.txt&qu...

Re: How to display two tracks at equal scale

Are you saying you want to have the tracks in the same single project? If so, File > Export Audio as WAV from one project and File > Import > Audio that WAV file into the other project. If you want to be sure the tracks are the same height, View > Fit Vertically. Also see http://manual.audacityteam....

Re: Delete multiple 'blank space'

when selected audio is deleted, the audio to the right of the newly deleted selction moves left (closes the gap). I want to 'close all the gaps' that have created by cutting out the sections of audio. Did you want to avoid creating a gap when you deleted? If you just use Delete key there should not...

Re: Chris Compressor Inexplicably Failing

"Amplify" is limited to +/- 50 dB I can certify it won't do -60. I also have evidence of it acting oddly. Generate Noise at 0.3 amplitude, Amplify it -40dB and rejoice in a -20dB noise track. It works for me. 0.3 is -10.458 dB. Amplify by -40 dB. New Peak Amplitude shows -50.4576 dB. Appl...

Re: detecting and slowing tempo of voicemail .wav files

If you are only interesting in playing audio more slowly for transcription, and not in exporting the finished file slowed down, you can use the Play-at-Speed button. Like Change Speed, this affects the pitch (slowing down will lower the pitch).
