I assume you mean 4 GB RAM.
What version of Audacity are you using (all three numbers)? See the pink panel at the top of the page.
How exactly are you trying to scroll, and is that vertical or horizontal scrolling?

Exactly what playback device are you trying to use? You could post the information from Help > Audio Device Info... top right of the Audacity menu bar.

The clicks occur in a lot of different frequency bands. You could try Noise Reduction - you are going to have to do that anyway. Did you shut the computer lid before the project finished saving? That is the usual reason that AUP files can end up empty.
