Re: Audacity startup slows down dramatically after 2nd openi
I disabled all the non built-in plugins and Audacity now starts up much faster (5 seconds) except on the first startup per Windows reboot. The first startup after a Windows reboot needs ~3 minutes. I expect something else is going on, now you find that the behaviour has changed. Perhaps there is sc...

Re: No sound at all when opening Audacity
Did someone built this computer for you? If so, then getting audio drivers for the motherboard is correct. "MS-7850" seems to point to different motherboards: https://uk.msi.com/search/MS-7850/product/1 . If so, you will need to know which motherboard you have. Alternatively look at your ...

Re: Doesn't PLAY in Ubuntu like in XP
I don't completely understand the symptoms. I thought you meant for example that you could hear on your headphones but not your computer speakers. Are you saying that the green playback triangle and cursor does not move across the blue waveform when you Play? It could be a bad setting. Have you trie...

Re: Audacity crashes on startup
I've very sorry for bringing this thread from the death but I've similar problem under Linux Mint 17.3 x64 How can I fix this problem?! Where did you obtain Audacity? Do you know what version number it is? Have you ever compiled PortAudio or some audio application that uses it? If so, then the answ...

Re: Static for MP3
Audacity 2.1.3 Ubuntu 14.04 Audacity 2.1.3 does not exist, except as an unreleased alpha build. Where did you get it from - the Launchpad "Daily Builds"? You should not use those for production work, irrespective of when the playback problem started. If you want a more recent stable relea...

Re: No sound at all when opening Audacity
I'm not sure who's website I should go to. Here's my system information: http://i.imgur.com/dsxBWCn.png The system model says "MS-7850", and whenever I Google this, all websites point to MSI, so I'm assuming I need to download drivers from the MSI website? Did someone build this computer ...

Re: Import Codec: PCM S16 LE (araw)
It's a Protracker File . I guess Audacity has no support for it, right ? Change its extension to ".mod" (without quotes) then Audacity will use FFmpeg to import it. According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MOD_(file_format) the samples are 8-bit PCM. Presumably the small file size is be...

Re: Labeled audio - Split
Assuming you did not change Audacity's default shortcuts, ALT + I (for "eye") won't do anything unless you have selected over a label in a Label Track. The command puts a vertical "Split line" in the waveform at the label positions, which makes the audio into separate clips . Gale

Re: Doesn't PLAY in Ubuntu like in XP
Ubuntu 12.04 and Audacity 2.0.0 are very old now. Was there a reason you obtained an old version of Ubuntu? It is still supported until next year, but you will have to upgrade it then. What playback device are you choosing in Device Toolbar? Your can post the contents of Help > Audio Device Info... ...
