Re: Editing buttons grayed out, Audacity not responding
While using Audacity you can always set your connection as "metered" in the Settings app > Network & Internet. Choose WiFi or Ethernet then click the connection icon. This prevents downloading and installing of most updates except "some" critical ones. I think this is available now even in Windows 1...

Re: Saved AUP is Blank when Opened
Signed on as a non-admin user, I have trouble opening approximately 4 AUP projects. If I am signed on as a the admin, all the AUP projects open. Do the problem projects load if you run Audacity as administrator while logged in as Standard user? Why does Audacity care when the projects are in a publ...

Re: Focusrite Saphire 14. Can't select correct input
Thanks Gale but I don't want this geeky stuff. I just want to play & record guitar using audacity. This has gone on too long. Audacity is a free application and we are very short of volunteer developers. You can't expect everyone to drop everything to implement a feature that you personally would l...

Re: Two Sides Recorded Simultaneously
What happened was that when it reversed to play the second side of the cassette, the first side was playing as well, so the two sides were playing together and, I assume, they were being recorded that way. So I recorded the cassette again with Software Playthrough off. But the same thing happened. ...

Re: Audio noise when trying to record a vinyl record to Auda
http://forum.audacityteam.org/download/file.php?id=17726 I don't know what you mean by tape out from pre-amp. Are you using the AT 120 with a standalone preamp? If you are, then the turntable must be set to phono, not line. Do you need to use the Mac's Line-In? What problem stops you using the USB ...

Re: Recording My old Vinyl records
As I wrote in my question: The record player was connected strait into the line-in socket, nothing in between I read what you wrote, but many users say "line-in" when they mean the mic in. If you only have one audio input like most computers these days, then almost certainly you do not have a prope...

Re: Formatting Audio
Please always tell us what version of Audacity you are using (all three numbers, see the pink panel at the top of the page). Choose "Other uncompressed files" when you export, then in the dropdowns underneath, choose WAV (Microsoft) Header and U-Law encoding. Choosing U-Law encoding gives you 8-bit....

Re: Two Sides Recorded Simultaneously
I have Audacity 2.1.3 on an iMac running macOS 10.12.4. Initially, I thought the problem was having Software Playthrough on. There were opposing instructions in different parts of the Audacity manual, but since it said to leave it on if you wanted to hear what you are recording, I left it on. I am ...

Re: Recording Help
If it is a stereo track, use the Audio Track Dropdown Menu to Split Stereo Track into left and right. That gives you independent control of left and right channel but probably won't help unless the singer is mainly in one channel. Otherwise the best tools to reduce the dynamic range of the recording...

Re: Installing Audacity 2.1.3 on iMac
2.1.2 and 2.1.3 won't interfere with each other in operational terms, but 2.1.3 is an all-in-one application with no folder. So to avoid confusion I suggest renaming your Audacity folder that has 2.1.2 to "Audacity 2.1.2 " or similar if you have not already done so. Then create a new folder "Audacit...
