Re: Audacity startup slows down dramatically after 2nd openi
(S241HL is the model of my external monitor.) What happens if you disable that playback device? Do you have correct drivers for all your audio devices? Yep, just checked. All my Audio I/O and Sound devices have the current driver. Who makes those drivers when you look in Device Manager? If they are...

Re: Audacity stops recording at specific point
Thanks for letting us know. Perhaps "lightweight" has something to do with it. RecordPad records in one stream direct to the target format rather than writing temporary files every few seconds. Perhaps there is some disk I/O or USB bottleneck that can't cope with what Audacity does. If tha...

Re: Slim down the Click Track interface
With Nyquist, we can't do "bicycle in an aeroplane" - they have to be separate. Nor do I see how we can link from the simple one to the advanced one without using a significant number of words in the interface to do so. Steve's demo was a metronome track (tick, tick, tick, tick). So are we...

Re: editing
Click in the silence and Generate > Silence... . But I expect that may not answer your question. Are you trying to expand pauses in speech that are not absolute silence, but "room noise"? If you need more help, please tell us what version of Audacity you are using (all three numbers, see t...

Re: File Renaming Problems. Please HELP!
A couple days ago I renamed a file name and the data file It's a _data folder . To make copies or backups, use File > Save Project As... and choose a new name. I read several threads and changed the FILE name, DATA file name and opened .aud file and changed "projname=" to match, but still...

Re: Audacity Not Recording Properly
You may want to be sure you have Audacity 2.1.2 supplied by us http://www.audacityteam.org/download/mac . A lot of people who say they have the latest version do not, because they downloaded somewhere else. See the pink panel at the top of the page. If you are connecting the Yamaha MG12XU by USB cab...

Re: generating a SpectroStrobe
I would like to generate a SpectraStrobe and I was expecting that with Audacity in "Generate" this is doable as explained in the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-v3vR3fq8i8&spfreload=5 however in the version 2.1.2 (windows) I can neither generate a SpectroStrobe nor an AudioStr...

Re: Extract .zip files = install not! Why?
I have a functioning Audacity 2.1.0 at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Audacity\audacity.exe", but uninstall says: File "C:\Program Files (x86)\unins000.dat" does not exist. Cannot uninstall. That file should not exist there unless you installed Audacity into "C:\Program Files (x86...

a search box, which would be equally valuable in a local copy of the manual Indeed, but that is likely to be more difficult than adding a search box for online. If we used PDF or Microsoft Compiled HTML - which has some variants for the other platforms - it would not be a problem. I will write a .b...
