Re: Audacity startup slows down dramatically after 2nd openi
I think I've accidentally fixed the problem, although it's hardly a solution. In Device Manager I rolled back the soundcard driver back to the previous, Microsoft version I had before. Now Audacity starts up instantly (~6 seconds) on the first startup. Reinstalling new driver reintroduces the probl...

... the old installation will be overwritten, but the Programs and Features entry for the older version will be left behind and will uninstall the later version ... Thanks all for your guidance. If I am reading correctly, am I still using the older version of Programs and Features even though it sh...

Re: I could not open 71.4 MB WAV file with Audacity 5:12:05
need to listen a .wav format file for a very important issue. It is 71.4 MB and 5h 12min 05sec long It is not a normal uncompressed WAV file then. Perhaps it is MP3 audio inside a WAV. almost 1h30min includes voices after that there is just recording noises. If it is for a legal case, you should co...

Re: More than one Audacity version installed
Some months ago, I installed the current Version 2.1.2 and as best I can recall did not first uninstall Version 2.0.5 since this is not a requirement. Both versions show up in my Windows Programmes, though the only one I access when opening the programme is 2.1.2. Should I delete the earlier versio...

Re: Consider a project of only unmodified tracks to be "clea
Use case: user prepares for a future editing session by importing say ten different audio files (or even a single one) into a newly opened project as they have the files tto hand right now and don't want to go searching for them in the future. User makes no other changes to the project but simply c...

Re: Tempo Toolbar
Are you essentially asking that Play-at-Speed does time-stretching so that it does not affect pitch, and that it has presets? Or do you want to use Change Tempo or Sliding Time Scale to apply the effect and change the audio data? Have you tried saving presets in those effects (in the "Manage&qu...

Re: Slim down the Click Track interface
I like koz's suggestion "Rhythm Track", which suggests to me, something between "Click Track" and "Drum Machine". More options and more "advanced" than one would normally expect of a "click track", but not a full featured drum machine. It does kind ...

Use Selection Tool (F1), click in the track (do not drag to select a region) then Generate > Silence. If you want to use Time Shift Tool (F5) instead of Generate > Silence then you have to first click in the track then use COMMAND + I to create a separate clip in the track. A black vertical line in ...

Re: Evening out the volume on a playlist
On two or thee occasions when playing a tune, it will just stop. Without touching the mouse, totally hands free. I go back to the song, and start it again, and it plays all the way through perfectly. This has happened on different songs, not the same one. Have you got all 70 songs imported at once?...

Re: Unable to transfer file via usb stick
Leaving aside envelope points and gain and pan settings, it is possible to export a multi-track project as a multi-channel WAV file. To do that you have to enable "Use custom mix" in Import / Export Preferences.
