On Windows, would it be worth looking in Audacity's "Help menu > Show Log" for this sort of problem? The log will report details of whether FFmpeg loaded, but you can see that more easily from the Libraries Preferences. From the error that appears, Audacity seems not to be recognising FFm...

If you get a problem like that, drag the exported audio back into Audacity and see if it has tall blue waves. If it does, then the default Windows playback device may have changed, perhaps because you connected a USB device which took over playback: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq_playback.ht...

Thanks. Given we can't reproduce the problem, it's only background information, unless we can understand in what way your system is different. Audacity doesn't record from remote computers.

Turn off Transport > Software Playthrough in Audacity then it won't send the input to the output.

You can choose Audacity playback and recording device in Device Toolbar.
