Re: Creating Stereo From Mono

You already have a stereo track, so obviously "Make Stereo Track" is not available. It is best to press the yellow Stop button when you want to edit. You can use the Track Dropdown Menu when paused but you can't make most edits when paused. It is best to use the Audacity Manual not YouTube...

Re: Overloading Input Meters

converting them to 24-bit does not improve them It does do one very important thing. It makes the client happy. I did not realise the recordings were stored on tape. ;) But anyway, if 7track's Mac has a stereo Line-in, make sure in /Applications/Utilities/Audio MIDI Setup that the Line-in is set to...

Re: missing data block files - 3 options - HELP!

I made a copy of the original recording by going into this PC > Music. I then right clicked on the original recording and selected copy. I then right clicked randomly in the music folder and selected paste. Did you copy and paste the AUP file, _data folder or both, and did you paste in the same fol...

Re: Overloading Input Meters

Yes in principle the extra gain stages of a headphones output "may" be noisier but you may not have a choice unless you can normalize the files to a lower level in PortaStudio, or unless PortaStudio allows transfer of the files to computer over USB. Audacity 2.0.6 is the final version for ...

Re: selection doc complaints re usual, visually impaired

Thanks for your feedback, mhd. Fortunately, the majority of users are not visually- or motion-impaired. Many of our users come to Audacity as novices to audio editing. The Manual is written for the majority but we do try to show how to do things with the keyboard where it can be done with the keyboa...

Re: Overloading Input Meters

If the Porta has headphones you can record from then that lets you turn down the volume knob on Porta to reduce the recording level.

Re: Speed issues between recording and playing

I used the 48000 bit rate with 32 bit float. The recording sounds like Donald Duck. So we don't get confused, 48000 Hz is a sample rate - how closely the individual digital samples are spaced together over time. Apparantly the ideal rate is somewhere between 22500 and 48000. I don't see any capabil...

Re: missing data block files - 3 options - HELP!

Just to add, Help > Show Log... in the copy project will list the missing file names and tell you the subfolder in the _data folder where Audacity expected to find the missing files.

Re: Time track

Now, if they could only get it so that files are saved to the same folder they were loaded from by default... I think you mean "exported to"? If you import an audio file, Audacity does offer to save project to the folder the imported file came from, but not so if you export. It's a popula...

Re: recorded track plays back double speed

Speed problems are sample rate problems, almost never an issue between 32-bit and lower bit depths. Are you reading the available sample rates in Windows Sound like we suggested? If you have not installed it yet, install the latest R8 driver from https://www.zoom.co.jp/sites/default/files/products/d...
