Re: error message when trying to record from cassette
I have EXCap USB Audio Capture (the cables, not the cassette player). I am using Sony Walkman as the cassette recorder. I assume you mean EZCap. If it says it is a video capture device, it probably won't work with Audacity because Audacity expects a pure audio signal that isn't wrapped in a non-exi...

Re: Can not convert corrupted autosave file to XML
I can confirm the steps are correct as written - I just tried them and recovered a project from a binary AUTOSAVE file saved by 2.1.3-alpha then converted to XML. However an AUTOSAVE file saved by Audacity 2.0.6 is already XML, so there is no need to convert it to XML at all. It is already editable ...

Re: Windows 10 .AUP ABSENT
You have not created a project until you actually save it - until then it is just a temporary, unsaved project. Try clicking OK in the dialogue in your screenshot, then a project (AUP file and _data folder) will be created. To reopen the saved project, open the AUP file, not the _data folder. Also s...

Re: upgrade questions
I just upgraded to 2.1.2 and I noticed that my keyboard definitions have reverted to defaults. Is there a way to restore them from the previous version of Audacity? If you chose "Reset preferences" in the installer then this is expected. Otherwise, if you exported the shortcuts previously...

Re: Equalizer range
You could use a plug-in Equalizer if preferred, such as VST format.

Re: EXPORT MULTIPLE ISSUES
- Every time I try to export multiple in order to get the separate tracks, each track exported is too large and too long. - I have tried to export in every setting possible and still have the same problem. - I have tried both AUDACITY 2.1.2 and the older 2.1.1 both yielding the same result. I think...

Re: Need Help with Mixer & Recording
I don't see any drop down that allows me to select USB CODEC. Make sure you are using Audacity 2.1.2 from http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows . Connect the mixer before launching Audacity, then choose the USB audio CODEC for the mixer in Device Toolbar . The mixer should have "USB&quo...

Re: WaveGain Vs Audacity Effect "Amplify"
The actual level of the audio samples does not affect the file size. http://www.audiomountain.com/tech/audio-file-size.html . Actually, the amplitude does affect the file size for compressed formats. Yes of course, but I understood that plainolguy was using WAV, in WaveGain, which can only analyze ...

Re: Need Help with Mixer & Recording
Audacity can only record from one device at a time. If you can hear what you want to hear in the mixer output then you should be able to record it in Audacity it you choose the USB CODEC for the mixer as the recording device. If you are playing tracks in Audacity while recording, you might get the p...

Re: Using m-audio interface
Hi. I just DLed Audacity yesterday. I'd like to use it in conjunction with my new M-audio Fast Track interface but I don't think Audacity is recognizing the unit. Any advice? BTW, I run Windows 7, 64 bit. You have to connect the interface before launching Audacity. If you launch Audacity first, try...
