Re: Static on a recording

... I decided to try using the built in laptop mic and the clicking/static didn't happen. Something must be messing around with the mic/usb and causing this to happen. I've e-mailed Blue support about this, still waiting for a reply. If the glitching consistently appears around the same time into t...

Re: Stereo Issue

I was able to record and split the percussion for a song on one track (thanks again). Last night I tried adding bass guitar on the second track, but while playing both of them back, Track 1 (percussion) plays fine, while the added bass on Track 2 plays back completely out of rhythm and sync with Tr...

Re: I have no sound in PC speakers from a cassette player by

If you want to hear the cassettes while recording, enable Transport > Software Playthrough in the Audacity menus. If you want to hear cassettes without recording, click in the Recording Meter where it says "Click to start monitoring", as well as enabling Software Playthrough. This page in...

Re: Stereo Issue

I made up my mind to read the entire Audacity tutorial, to learn as much as possible (including the above) so not to pester you with every issue, but that box comes up which demands the selection of other search engines (msn or Bing) before allowing you to proceed (and no way I'm doing that). That ...

Re: I have no sound in PC speakers from a cassette player by

It is correct to set the Audacity playback device to your speakers. If you choose that speakers device, the speakers volume must be turned up in Audacity, and unmuted in the system. If you want to hear the cassettes while recording, enable Transport > Software Playthrough in the Audacity menus. If y...

Re: Constant Bit Rate Export Problem

LAME 3.99 encompasses different versions http://lame.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/lame/lame/doc/html/history.html . Although nominally there are no bug fixes between LAME 3.99 versions that seem to affect quality, I don't think you can make comparisons unless you are actually using the same version of...

Just to be clear, it's the "Audio to buffer" setting that it might help to increase.

Re: track clean up

"Normalize <-> Noise Reduction" the order does not really matter. I prefer to Normalize first so that I can hear the result of Noise Reduction better. "Compression -> Noise Reduction" BAD. Don't do this. Compression can make the noise floor fluctuate, which messes up the Noise R...

Re: How to remove loud sounds? Envelop? Anything else?

I take it there's no answer to this wonderful question Ceodryn asked "Finally, is there a tutorial written or video on how to use Audacity for podcast editing that you would recommend for newbies?"? Have you read the answers in this topic? You can ask if there is something you do not unde...

Re: Insert time at the beginning of multiple tracks [SOLVED]

Sorry if I wasn't clear. It was clearer in your first post in someone else's topic, but at the time I had not read that. ;) Also I see even if you drag from over a clip, Time Shift with Sync-Lock Tracks enabled only shifts clips in other tracks if those clips overlap with other clips, unless you se...
