Re: File Exists -- confirm option defaults to YES

May I suggest one way to solve such an impasse is to have an option that you can turn on and off. When off it doesn't prompt you if the file exists, but when on it does, and always says no, so you don't do any damage. I've moved this to "Adding Features" in case anyone else want to reques...

Re: Format Error in MP3 players

You can also get the preset files that do play on to the computer and analyze those in MediaInfo. That will tell you the characteristics of an MP3 file that is playable.

Can any of these MP3 players be plugged into the mains? Try that.

Re: Format Error in MP3 players

well, if you were to guess most common mp3 parameters used by most common mp3 players what should they be? I mean as set by Audacity when exporting the data. It sounds like the encoding is not the problem, but try 128 kbps, constant bit rate, 44100 Hz (chosen in project rate bottom left of Audacity...

Get the version without installer, because the installer may have malware or adware.

Re: Recording Skype and microphone

I am currently unable to record both a Skype conversation AND a microphone input to my computer. Skype is notoriously difficult to record. Most people use a special purpose application like Pamela . But, I don't know about recording both sides of a phone conversation plus a microphone. You can try ...

Re: Help : ( import error

When you save a project, the temporary data is moved to the _data folder. You can't use the 1.2 Recovery Tool once you have edited the project. That tool only works with unedited recordings. As it is only two minutes of audio, I suggest you use File > Import > Audio... and select all the AU files in...

Re: audacity 2.1.2 - clipping bar not working

It is NOT working when recording in 16bit mode. If we are talking about the Meter Toolbar clipping indicator, as previously stated, it requires a run of four or more consecutive clipped samples (irrespective of bit depth). Otherwise it does not light up. Show Clipping only needs one sample to be cl...

Re: Silence as variable

Try http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquist_Effect_Plug-ins#Regular_interval_audio_splitter . If you are already using that, and Undoing and Redoing that effect with different silence length does not work for you, try the Extend Silences plugin (if you want to increase the silence, which I guess y...

Re: File Exists -- confirm option defaults to YES

I am using Audacity 2.0.3 on RHEL. I notice when I try to save an Export Selection, if the file exists the prompt defaults to YES. This has the unfortunate effect of making the warning meaningless. I naturally continue to press RETURN, as you do, and immediately overwrite my file. Note: this is whe...

Re: How do I 'gradiated' ducking and 'reverse' ducking?

I agree that there are things that could be developed in Audacity that would make it much better for music production, such as real-time preview for Equalization and compression (short lookahead). Even now though, you can use a plugin Equalizer, such as VST or LADSPA, to apply playback EQ in real t...
