Re: Heavy distorted/clipping when recording

Sounds like it could be bad hardware (consider a USB audio device which will be isolated from the noise inside the computer): http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Improving_Recording_Quality bad drivers: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Updating_Sound_Device_Drivers recording lev...

Re: can't move project files

I assume this project depends on imported WAV or AIFF files. If you are then opening the project on another computer, the audio that those imported files contains must either have been copied into the _data folder, or the files must also be present on the other computer in the exact same file path a...

Re: Song names wrong on MP3 file export into iTunes

If you have named the files according to the song name, e.g. "songname.mp3" that is the problem, as "name" in iTunes as far as MP3 is concerned is not the filename but the Title ID3 tag. This is different from WAV or AIFF where "name" is the filename. If you are exporti...

Your sound device? Not enough memory or CPU at the time you were trying to play it (e.g. Windows update doing its job/new antivirus definitions downloading)?

Re: Audacity 1.3.3 (beta) not exporting to mp3

There are two kludgey workrounds of course (1) add an empty track, use export multiple and throw the empty track away (2) (if it's there in the Save as type dropdown), choose "external program" and export to LAME at the command line. Are you all on the KDE desktop, because it looks as if t...

Re: Rotating stereo

The Nyquist Ramp panning plug-in will simply pan a track from one side to the other (so that at the start and end it's all only in one of the speakers) and the same can be done in Audacity by duplicating the track, panning one hard over in one direction and the other on the opposite direction, then ...

Re: Any chance we can lose the "Save" function on the forum

When replying to posts it is far too easy to hit the "Save" button by mistake - and like another poster I responded to recently, I've never figured How to retrieve the draft - so end up having to retype the reply. Personally I think the "Save" function is a waste of space and wo...

If this is a USB turntable, make sure the USB cable is tight both ends and also that the cartridge/headshell is tight. See:

Re: Thanks to whoever tidied up the UI on this forum

Hi Yes it was me. We can't go on with about 50% of postings going in the General category. I have now dropped General right to the bottom of each Forum. Even if someone asks something pretty general like "how do I extract audio from my DVDs" you can actually give them a far more useful ans...
