Re: Can't record, Please help!

this is great info - is it going to make it into the 1.4 manual - I think it would be useful in there. WC Peter - I don't really think in the Manual per se. At some stage I'll put it (in more detail) on the main Wiki, and probably make an FAQ for it which can link to the Wiki article. The FAQs on t...

Re: Can no longer export to MP3

Almost certainly you are exporting at a bit rate that is not compatible with your sample rate. Set the Project Rate bottom left of the Audacity screen to 44100 Hz. More explanation:

Re: Year field in metadata not saved with mp3 by export mult

1.3.4 does not have any way to specify the ID3 version. ID3 v2.3 (the latest available) is used. We are aware of the issue with the Year tag not being seen by Windows Media Player - I presume that is where you are looking for the tag. We understand it to be a bug in Windows Media Player that it does...

Re: Correction of clipping?

Try Clipfix
http://www.gaclrecords.org.uk/clipfix.zip

It's a Nyquist plugin so native to Audacity . You may need to run it on small sections of audio at a time if you are on a slow machine. It tries to reconstruct the clipped regions. If Declipper does nothing for you, try this.

Re: Lost audio output with media player and Itunes

Go back to the control panel and on the "Playback" tab, select the sound device your speakers are plugged into. If you were using a USB device to record from, it may have set your playback device to itself, then you will hear no sound.

Re: "Over A Radio" effect

Try the compressor under the Effect Menu, then Project > New Audio track or new stereo track and under the Generate Menu, Generate White Noise. This gives you noise in a new track which you can mix in with your voice. You may want to reduce the amplification of the noise with Effect > Amplify so it ...

Re: importing audio from .mov file created by iMovie

I thought 1.3.3+ can import .mov files?
Audacity 1.3.3 for Mac can import audio-only .mov and other unencrypted QuickTime - based files. It's done using the Quick Time components on the user's system and is not available in Windows builds of Audacity.

Re: MIxer toolbar greyed out in xp

The mixer toolbar selector is only a convenience and depends on the state of the Realtek drivers. Have you actually tried setting your source (mic or whatever) in Control Panel and then simply recording? Try updating the drivers as well: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Iss...
