Re: Canpt export to MP3
Oh great developers: make the preferences dialog accessible to voiceover. I am not able to get to the part where I can tell audacity where the laim plug in is. The basic problem is that the wxWidgets GUI we use (in this case wxMac) does not support VoiceOver, and VoiceOver itself seems to be buggy....

Re: Do any of you...
I'd recommend trying the vocoder to start with (vocoder.ny).Note that the vocoder uses two audio files, the voice and a carrier wave. To use the vocoder plug-in create a stereo file where the left channel is the voice, and the right channel is the carrier wave. Just to clarify, the "carrier wa...

Re: Stuttering, plays alternating left and right, out of syn
Audacity reports the files as 32 bit because by default it decompresses them to that resolution. If your current default device is Realtek, then MS SoundMapper also gives you the Realtek device. I presume you are playing these files one at a time in Audacity, or are you mixing them? Mixing long trac...

Re: Audacity 1.2.6 Kills Other Audio
At a guess you are using a USB turntable. If so the problem is that on Windows, even USB devices that are not meant for playback set themselves as the default playback device, so you lose sound because of that. Please see "Windows system sound requires reset" on: http://audacityteam.org/wi...

Re: Do any of you...
You probably need a vocoder type of plug-in. With Audacity "as-is" you can simulate some robot-like or distortion effects with wah-wah, phaser, Noise Removal at extreme settings, or an extreme hard limit then amplify it back up. As for plug-ins try: http://www.audacity-forum.de/download/ed...

The behaviour Koz notes is routine for audacityteam.org sites (Wiki editing is the same). If your post or edit hangs, stop, use the Back button and preview/submit again.

Re: Clipfix (see waveform pic) - plugins available?
The amount of de-amplification depends on how much the audio is clipped and on the threshold level that is set. Determining a precise amount of de-amplification would be quite tricky and would require a pre-scan, but it could be either set with a second slider, or for a more simple interface could ...

Re: Clipfix (see waveform pic) - plugins available?
I've actually just added clipfix.ny (as is, apart from adding some explanatory text, because I'm not a Nyquist programmer) to Audacity source code, so that it will be part of Audacity under the effect menu. Based on deliberately clipping some audio and comparing with the original, I think it reconst...

Re: Cannot save files
Just to clarify points in both my post and Koz's, the problem with long names and accented characters in 1.2.x applies to saving projects as well as exporting an audio file like AIFF or MP3. Sorry I referred only to exporting. The Directories Preference is only for the temporary directory Audacity w...
