Re: Failure to start after previous success

Thanks for your reply. I will attempt to follow your instructions. If this does not work would you recommend using the earlier download, 1.2.6 ? - Tapejunkie It's unlikely to make any difference because the reasons that would prevent 1.3.5 from launching would also prevent 1.2.6 from launching, als...

Re: High Pass Filter HPF usage question.

I am no expert in these matters, but High Pass and Low Pass are definitely not blocking filters, they merely attenuate below/above the cut-off frequencies, and more attenuation can be obtained by running further passes. If you use Audacity 1.3.5, it has a more configurable High Pass filter that lets...

Re: Failure to start after previous success

Unless you used a 1.2.x version of Audacity before, there will be no traces of Audacity in the registry as Audacity 1.3.5 does not use it. The most likely reasons for the problem are 1) you added an incompatible plug-in to the Audacity plug-ins folder, so it will not start until it is removed. 2) yo...

Re: Playback Problem

Being a total n00b to Audacity, I have no idea why, when I try to play back the song (which is in wma format, if that helps), the program jumps through the 9 1/2 minute track in about half a second, and all I hear is a brief, digital chalkboard screech type of sound. If you need help converting the...

Re: Blind user asks for help with tracks' editing

And a suggection to developpers: Could there be a key (Escape?) that would try to make keyboard focus and mode to some predefined state. Thanks for your suggestions to Maurimol. Can you explain more about your above suggestion - what state of focus should Audacity go to, what do you mean by mode, a...

Re: ASUS notebooks - OK recording with Audacity?

I doubt you can generalise, it depends what sound device ASUS bundle into the motherboard, as to whether it will support stereo mix. I think you might be able to generalise that an older second hand notebook may be more likely to have a sound device/hardware that supports it. I don't see any categor...

Re: Audacity 1.2.6 Kills Other Audio

The Audacity 1.2.x manual dates back several years, before significant numbers of USB turntables or other USB audio devices came onto the market. Later versions of instructions written by USB turntable manufacturers should mention this problem. As for "inbuilt sound", it's technically corr...

Re: help recording stereo mix in vista? (no sound)

What's an IDT driver, do you mean the semiconductor manufacturer? If your audio device does not support stereo mix, the most successful virtual driver to let you record computer playback is usually said to be Freecorder: http://www.freecorder.com/freecorder3 This is a browser add-on and records to t...
