Re: Extremely long "save project as" times
Sorry, the new code did not help - it froze 47 minutes into a 1:05:00 recording. That possibly suggests the drivers of the sound device you are recording with are suspect. Are you using the motherboard sound. I'd suggest you trying to update to the latest drivers from the manufacturer of the device...

Re: Audacity on Asus eeepc 701
So is this machine running Windows or Linux? What version of Audacity are you using e.g. 1.2.6? These are not fast machines - 630 MHz (?) and though RAM is adequate (512 MB) there are limits to what you can do if you are working with long tracks. See these tips: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.ph...

Re: Extremely long "save project as" times
Having recorded twice for a couple of hours myself in 1.3.5 with no problem stopping the recording at the appointed time, it's difficult to say much. What version of WIndows are you on (XP, Vista...)? Does our latest code behave any better? http://www.gaclrecords.org.uk/audacity-latest-cvs-ansi.zip ...

Re: Audacity 1.3.5 Memory and Resource Leak
OK so it was really a combination of a graphics package problem and having "audio cache" on, I think you're saying. Thanks for tracking down the problem. I doubt "audio cache" is very useful as is, if you do any amount of editing/file importing. I'd like to see it have an option ...

Re: Blind user asks for help with tracks' editing
1) I don't know if I am able to contribute to the wiki. I found the guide on using audacity with jaws is very well-done and I'm using audacity for a very specific purpose, i.e. radio reports.I'm not an expert in sound editing, rather than that. But, if you think I can help someway, you can definite...

Re: Audacity 1.3.5 Memory and Resource Leak
You have definitely tied part of this down to the Widgets version by compiling from 1.3.5 from the source tarball, once against Widgets 2.6 and once against 2.8? Is part of this RAM usage problem that you have "Audio Cache" enabled in Directories Preferences? Despite its description this c...

Re: "Negerpunk" is not a music genre!
Bit more: Koz is partly correct insofar as we have no control over the list where imported tags are ID3v1 - there the tag data is actually just a number that refers to a predefined list. But ID3v2 is more flexible and can store real names, hence the Beta (where the exported tags are always ID3v2) le...

Re: "Negerpunk" is not a music genre!
Hmm I'm not sure if it's correct the encoder adds these, or that Fraunhofer are responsible. ID3 was added onto MP3 after it was invented. Truer to say that most MP3 encoding software just uses the current Nullsoft genre list? In Audacity Beta the genre list can be edited, so you can get rid of any ...

Re: Menus greyed out after cancelling effect
I also have encountered this problem after installing 1.3.5 on my Intel-based MacBook Pro. I'm running OS X 10.5.3 Leopard. Whenever I open any effect dialogue and then click cancel, all menus are grayed out. I have only the main project window open. Should I also install the alpha? -Kent No, becau...
