Re: "file not well formed in line 6" error?
"Not well formed at line x" usually arises if you use Audacity 1.2.x on Mac but enter foreign/accented characters in labels or track names. You are using 1.3.5d correct? And the recording is OK normally but the crashes are when editing, or you can't reopen the saved project? You can open t...

Re: meter toolbar
That is how the meter is now - not like a system window. We're aware it can't be contracted below its default level at present. We have a page for Feature requests and I'll add a vote for your suggestion the play-at-speed button should be able to reset to unity.

Re: why did audacity crash after 45 mins?
Clearly your Mac has problems if the fan was making a racket, and it's possible the crash wiped the temp folder out (Audacity recreates it when launching). Beta 1.3.5d is generally more suitable for 10.5.5 and normally can recover data automatically after a crash (if the folder still exists). Gale

Re: Alesis Multimix 8 HELP PLEASE
In what sense does the recording not show the noise - you mean if you stop singing or playing you see nearly a flat line in the waveform? At a guess you are playing back with your inbuilt sound device (see the Audio I/O tab of Audacity Preferences for what device you are playing back with in Audacit...

Re: Audacity 1.3.5 Beta Vocal Removal
I have installed the 1.3.5 Beta, which said it supported new vocal removal plug-in, I was not in the base product so installed the LADSPA plug-ins, still looking for it under the effects menu. Any help on find where this feature is and how to use it appreciated. It is underneath the divider in the ...

Re: What driver do I need to install for multi-track recordi
When I try to record on Track 2 while listening to Track 1 in my headphones, all that gets recorded is a louder version of Track 1. I'm using a standard computer mic, and I've messed with the input and output settings under the computer's sound settings. I have an HP Compaq business Desktop, runnin...

Re: Install failed, error compiling sse_optimized.cpp
I've moved this into the compiling Forum.
It looks as if this problem arises on AMD machines without SSE enabled. It seems you can solve it by defining an environment variable:
$ SOUNDTOUCH_CXXFLAGS =-msse -mmmx
For details see here.

Re: audacity on cd
I have a laptop at home but no internet connection. I can download audacity at work. If I do this, will it download files that I can transfer to a CD so that I can take it home, or load it directly to the pc that I am using at that time? It depends what your employer permits you to do. If they perm...

Re: Audacity 1.2.6 crashes with Remote Desktop
You can see the essential answer (RDP is not a complete audio protocol) in the previous posts in this thread. Audacity is crashing because it is trying to access your sound card, but because you are working over RDP you don't have access to the sound card on the machine where Audacity is running. Th...

Re: Only left channel exports to MP3
Thanks, Steve. It's just broken really, and worse, unpredictable. Fredee's scenario sometimes gives me the right hand channel of the top (muted!) track plus both channels of the bottom, and sometimes it works (as well as sometimes giving his observed behaviour). Moving/muting/soloing tracks or (in 1...
