Re: allow playback start close to playback cursor

I do still think the playback functionallity isn't exactly what the programmers intended. I'd think they'd want to initiate playback when clicking on the timeline at any location. I think I'd agree. When you click in the timeline and then drag the cursor, you cannot do anything with that region bec...

Re: Delay before being able to record

You probably just don't have enough computer resources. If you are recording from a USB device, plug it in its own port, not into a hub. Reboot more often and read these tips: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Managing_Computer_Resources_and_Drivers If you are recording with the computer'...

Re: Playback Volume Spikes when recording begins

This sounds like an intermittent/infrequently reported Linux and Mac bug making clipping detection inconsistent, and (more noticeably) causing spurious clipping at start of playback. We fixed it (we think) on the 28th October by updating the playback meter at the end of the callback routine (instead...

Re: [issue]constant jack connections

I think it's a P2. The group users who want to use Audacity with Jack are larger then you think... all people on Linux who are working with audio/ music on Gnu/linux should work with Jack... At least if they are taking it serious... And a so also the devs of Audacity should takes this (more) seriou...

Re: 1.3.6 problem with Win98

From some searching around, I think the SHBindToParent function may simply not be available on Windows 98 (or 95) systems, and applications written for those operating systems may need to have a workaround implementation of that function written for them. We hadn't tested 1.3.6 on Windows 98 for lac...

Re: Audacity 1.3.5 Beta Vocal Removal

The function did appear and I was able to utilize it, on some songs it works better than others. I think there are no magic wands when it comes to vocal removal. True. If you have not seen it already. take a look at: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Vocal_Removal which mentions some thi...

Re: Top 10 Most Popular iPod Video Tools

Daniel_123: It's quite OK to recommend tools (even paid ones) but it should be done purely on a personal recommendation based on your own experience, and probably in relation to a pre-existing thread. Your post clearly is neither, and common sense suggests caution (look at the name of the URL). Gene...

Re: Alesis Multimix 8 HELP PLEASE

I don't even need to have a guitar or anything hooked up to the mixer, as long as the mixer is plugged in, and i hit record i get awful white noise. Whether i'm hitting strings or not >.< So you are now saying recording is the problem, not playback? Try an experiment. In Audacity, click Generate > ...

Re: [issue]constant jack connections

OK, we noticed the "votes" for the "feature requests" about JACK. We have been aware of problems with JACK for a long time, though some of them change subtly with PortAudio updates as Steve says. I do think these issues are closer to bugs than feature requests, and as such, bugs ...
