Re: Shortcuts with ALT on Mac

And back to experimental 1.3.7 for a second. I loaded my short piano thing and tried to select a single note (G below middle C) to prove a point to someone. I couldn't do it. After seemingly possessed behavior, I saw that the click and drag selector only worked in even seconds. It would snap to the...

Re: Audacity MP3s playback at double speed

The LAME changelog is here, so as you see there are not any major changes in v3.98. I assume you are on Windows, if so lame_enc.dll 3.98.2 from my site does not have the length change issue, and we're planning to update the version we link to on http://lame.buanzo.com.ar/ to use that.

Re: Menus greyed out after cancelling effect

I recorded a live streaming broadcast on 1.3.6. Unfortunately I wan unaware of the glitch until afterwards. Now I have the recording up but the save and export options are grayed out. I have followed the instructions on this thread and downloaded the new version. But that does this mean I will not ...

Re: Audacity MP3s playback at double speed

This should not be a problem in Windows/Audacity 1.2.6 if you stick to 44100 Hz project rate (bottom left of the Audacity screen) and use this v3.98 version of lame_enc.dll . 1.2.6 code has not changed for a very long time so the only thing that can have changed is the version of the LAME library yo...

Re: Voice stress analysis

Is the indicator of stress simply an increase of energy in the 6 - 16 Hz range (which the Audacity Spectrum view will show, or is the calculation of a "norm" for the audio critical? And how do you tell in Prevaricator at what time point the lie is supposed to occur without a time axis? Gale

Re: Autodetect LAME library

Autodetection won't work in Audacity 1.2.x, but if you need to update the binary LAME file that Audacity uses, you should be able to just overwrite it with the same name in the existing location where Audacity looks for it. Autodetection should work in 1.3.x on Windows and Linux if you put the binar...

Re: Shortcuts with ALT on Mac

I think the 1.3.7 (Mac) Play module is scrambled. Open up a fresh Audacity and sound clip. Click anywhere in the thin time band on top and the clip will start to play from that point (certainly different from 1.2.5). That's known as Quick-Play and not actually a bug: http://www.audacityteam.org/man...

Re: Inaccurate Length on a .mp3

Since the time I replied back in January, it's become much clearer that MP3 encoding is problematical and likely to produce the wrong reported length and bit rate if you use variable bit rate (on Windows and Linux as well). The presets do seem to work OK on Windows, however. This is already noted in...

Re: No longer can't get audacity to work

Thanks Steve - I didn't know about that port of Linux - it might well be less problematic than virtualising "pure" Linux, but it won't help Chris because AndLinux is only for 32-bit systems **which I see you've now corrected, thanks** Now, I just repeated the references to "try instal...

Re: When i take out my backround noise the track sounds weir

I said "close to 0", not to hit it. -6 is fine if you have fixed the background noise problem. The usual reason for such is poor/loose cables or connections - always pay attention to those on USB. If you still have the noise you may want to aim for -1 as a peak. If the mic is not getting a...
