Re: Guitar Recording Problems

On some inbuilt devices, another analogous and unwanted result of having the "noise suppression" recording option enabled is to filter out the higher frequencies - that may even be happening here. Although you might record at 44100 Hz (which should give you frequencies up to circa 20000 Hz...

Re: Bug? Channels available in 1.2.6 are missing in 1.3 beta

We were trying to prevent the majority of users who only have two-channel recording devices setting recording to three or more channels and getting the inevitable error. This does however rely on the channel capabilities of multi-channel devices being correctly detected, and this is not happening f...

Re: Recording is too fast for track

Now, I'm troubleshooting to make sure that whatever was wrong before won't happen again. I do have both Real time and High quality sample rates set to fast sinc. I don't recall if there were my settings way back before when I first starting successfully recording. Just to reiterate, the only thing ...

Re: Clipfix (see waveform pic) - plugins available?

My copy of ClipFix has now been updated to be the same as in source code, but the only difference between that and what was there before is the ;categories line which means that 1.3.6 sorts it under Effect > Utility > Noise Removal. One of our contributors who works on Nyquist plug-ins has come bac...

Re: Saving Files - error message 2

<<<Actually I don't even have the option of saving or exporting this file and never did >>> <<<I go to the folder in my desktop where that file was saved >>> Those two statements seem to be contradictory. If you have never successfully saved an Audacity project, then the recording is still in Audaci...

Re: Saving Files - error message 2

I think this is a Mac-specific file system error; the error message does not seem to be in our source code. Are you are getting this when you try to File > Save an Audacity Project, or when you File > Export As (an audio file)? And how far do you get before you get the error - as far as typing the f...

Re: Year field in metadata not saved with mp3 by export mult

ID3 v1 was superseded 10 years ago. Do these players refuse to play the files, or just refuse to read the tags? We aren't planning at present to reintroduce a choice in Metadata Editor to export as ID3v1. The decision was made not to support it in the redesigned Metadata Editor because it would basi...

Re: Recording is too fast for track

Avast does let you disable scanning of selected files (right-click over its system tray icon > On-Access Protection Control > Standard Shield: Customize button). Anti-virus scanning of the .au files Audacity writes when recording can cause dropouts in the recorded waveform because the computer canno...

Re: 1.2.6 noise removal superior to 1.3.6 ??

Thanks for your efforts in testing, Steve. I honestly don't think two alternative Noise Removal effects is sellable to the developers. Better to keep the time and frequency smoothing controls, rather than remove them and set a default smoothing. I think part of the problem with those two controls is...

Re: Triple Boot Mac...Yo!

OK, thanks Koz. I'm not sure if you had multiple instances of Audacity though, because a lock should prevent this. If you launch Audacity when it's already running, you should just get a new project window within the same process (just like if you did File > New). That's what happens on Windows - th...
