Re: how to export raw data to Matlab?
Does Sox help you - import the WAV then write as textual data, which I figure would give you the amplitude of each sample (e.g. -0.888617 at one particular sample then + 0.323733 one hundred samples down the line) - something like the data that another user produced from a VB dump: http://n2.nabble....

Re: Can neither record nor playback: Audacity 1.3.5 beta
(hw:0,0), (hw:0,1), etc." are the ALSA device numbers - the first number (hw: 0 ) is the device (the CA0106 Sound Blaster card), and the second number (hw:0, x ) is the sub device (for example, line input socket, front speaker output, etc.) There is a link here with quite a bit of information ...

Re: Mixer Input Toolbar Selector Disabled
If you are on Vista, you have not disabled the input selector at all. On Vista you use the Audio I/O Preferences in Audacity to select input devices: http://audacityteam.org/help/faq?s=recording&i=mixer-toolbar-input Exit Audacity and use the Windows Control Panel to select and enable the input ...

Re: E-MU 1212 Sound Card recording
Thanks, Cheryl. Interesting to read that you can effectively use the E-MU to route audio from an ASIO- or ADAT-enabled application to Audacity. Perhaps a link to the 1212 manual will help too: http://www.emu.com/support/files/storage/v2_1820-1212-EN.pdf I'm still a bit puzzled about the purpose of i...

Re: Sound Soap 2 conflict
Removing the VST bridge plug-in from Audacity should enable Audacity and Sound Soap to co-exist (though you will then be unable to use any VST effects in Audacity -though with the hundreds of free Ladspa and Nyquist plug-ins available that should not be too much of an issue). If anyone else has pro...

Re: Is there a way to extend the tail end of a track?
I am trying to add gverb to the last word on a recorded track, but to do so would extend the length of word beyond the tail end of the track. Rather than extending the tail end of the track, it cuts off the part of the word that extends beyond the tail. The track is a total of 12 seconds long. Is t...

Re: Bug in ID3v2 tag?
Many common Windows media players expect an ID frame called "TYER" to indicate the year, even though "TDRC" is correct for the current ID3 specification. If this is really a nuisance for you, update to 1.3.7 Beta, or wait for the new 1.4.0 stable to come out. We've reverted there...

Re: Recording at 24bit appears to be 16 bits padded to 24bit
Hi Thunderstick Thanks - OK I've seen it now - both MME and DirectSound produced 24-bit (your post top of page 3). I did "think" I could recall someone using MME to get "true" 24-bit recording in the past with 24-bit hardware, so I did not chime in before now, but another develop...

Re: File|Close shuts down software instead of project
Care still needs to be taken changing the "Closing last window quits Audacity" option - as long as any projects are open, the temporary files from all projects are still present and are not deleted until the last window is closed. That isn't correct, I think, Steve. If you create some ton...
