Re: Error while opening sound device ... (PreSonus FP10)
Well, I might note also that we have a PreSonus Firepod (which is basically the same thing as the FP10) on a Windows XP Pro system and Audacity works fine with the Firepod on that system. However, I am running Audacity 1.3.2 on the XP system; whereas, on this computer I am running Vista Business. I...

Re: Error while opening sound device ... (PreSonus FP10)
It looks like Audacity can not recognise any input devices (the ones that it can see have no sample rates listed). I think that is not relevant (I've only ever seen a listing of supported rates for individual devices for output devices, even where the playback/recording works). More relevant is the...

Re: Audacity 1.2.6 crashes with Remote Desktop
however with CoolEdit works fine over RDP, so I don't think it's "not possible" .... you could operate in "playback only" mode? CoolEdit doesn't record over RDP though I presume? My use case of Audacity over RDP is when I don't want to copy over very large audio files but just w...

Power Spectrum Estimation using FFT
The "API" is the type of the plug-in which you introduced me. And it dosen't work on my system from compatibility to my adobe or system or something... But now I understand I should, one way another, read that file on "Audacity's calculation of FFT (...right?)". That PDF does no...

Power Spectrum Estimation using FFT
In response to a question elsewhere, here is an explanation of why the dB energy of the Plot Spectrum falls when looking at ordinary music or speech in larger window sizes.

Re: Get error message when I use save as...
Thanks Steve for the long explanation about Stable and Beta. I must for the record clarify about your comment that 1.3.9 ... is called a "Release Candidate" (RC). What that means is that the developers think that Audacity 1.3 has now essentially "arrived". There will no doubt be ...

Re: record/playback speed difference
Koz is correct. You've said nothing about the sound devices you are using to record and play back with. Are they the same? If so, you can't expect recording and playback will necessarily match. You've said nothing about the project rate you are using (see my earlier post). We get these sort of quest...

Re: "Cut" feature cutting too much :(
There isn't a bug as obvious as that which is replicable every time you do a cut in any scenario. We would need an exact scenario from launch of Audacity including number and length of tracks, the position of any labels in the project and whether "Link Tracks" is enabled (the button to lef...

Re: 1.3.8 Truncate Silence Issue
It's known that in 1.3.8 if you have another track in the project without silence, even if that other track is not selected, Truncate Silence won't work. Either nothing will happen (no progress dialogue if you click OK without previewing), or if you preview, the effect will be heard in the preview ...

Re: Get error message when I use save as...
I have the same issue, the file name is not the problem, save as 'x.aup' generates the error. The work around is to select all of the current project, copy , create new project , paste and save as . This works every time. Save As then works for anywhere from one to many times before the error 'name...
