Re: PreSonus FP10 records at a max of half-volume in Audacit

Well, I think I've inadvertently figured out the problem: Testing this new version right away without changing settings, it was perfect, but that's when recording in stereo. As soon as I switch it to mono, it's back to recording at half volume. Hi, Do you mean changing the recording channels to &qu...

Re: recording with sony pcm d50, then direct to cd

Anyway, let's not speculate further, but get some facts. I'm still trying to get some solid answers, especially to if "all internal processing is 32-bit" but haven't forgotten. The source code claims quite clearly: " Dithering is only done if it really is necessary. Otherwise (e.g. w...

Re: 1.3.9 sometimes export partly crashed AIFF

Or, user can delete the 1.2 preferences and then they only need to delete audacity.cfg. Does anybody know where Audacity 1.2 stored its preferences on Mac OSX? I have a recollection that it was in ~/Library/Preferences/ and then possibly in an "audacity" folder in there, but I long since ...

Re: Problem with 2 USB mics as aggregated device

Bravo! I downloaded Audacity beta 1.3.9 and it was able to select and use my already aggregated pair of USB mics for inputs... by aggregating inputs you can plug several USB mics directly into your Mac's USB ports and avoid using an external mixer/combiner... Excellent. We're often asked if you can...

Re: Get error message when I use save as...

I ran into this too and the fix for me was to go into the preferences and change the directory to something other than the default temp directory. Personally I chose my recording directory and created a new folder there called temp. Since making that change I haven't had this problem. OK, so if you...

Re: Sound activated recording

A closely related feature is Pre-Roll Recording (not just for sound level activation) where Audacity can be "armed" for recording (Pause + Record) and a pre-roll buffer is used so that that recording begins before the recording is un-paused. This type of pre-roll recording is available on...

Re: 1.3.9 sometimes export partly crashed AIFF

<<<the best advice is not to delete the .cfg file, but initialise it.>>> Why? What benefit do we gain from that over what happens when we make Audacity build a new one? Koz Because if user has ever used 1.2 (often they won't tell you that) and deletes audacity.cfg, 1.3 will then restart using the s...

Re: 1.3.9 sometimes export partly crashed AIFF

I've seen similar issues with corrupted AIFF imports or exports in 1.3 when the user had the Stable 1.2 version in the past (in which case 1.3 still uses stored 1.2 preferences where they are common to both versions). I assume you have only ever used 1.3 versions, but preference settings can and do ...

Re: Sound activated recording

It's fairly typical that a sound-activated recording feature would have both a customisable pre-roll buffer duration and a post-roll duration option (so that the end of the recording isn't chopped off too abruptly). We have had many requests to enhance Sound Activated Recording with pre- and post ro...

Re: Copy/paste partially muted

Audacity, either 1.3.7 or 1.3.9: non-installed stand-alone version on XP sp3,. I am using Audacity for language learning, so frequently need copy 2-3 seconds short speech and paste it to a new file with 4-5 seconds gap in between. The selected fragment played well at source and as long as pasted in...
