Re: Windows 7 Recording Workaround

Thank you - your tip worked for me. I had to follow your suggestions right to the end - including microphone disable - but it works. Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit. Audacity 1.3.11 beta. Where did you disable the mic - in the Recording tab of "Sound"? It should be possible for multiple dev...

Re: Mixing Tracks Question

Ah yes, I never realized how you coulld select multiple tracks - but there remains an underlying problem with that: the visual cues are either wrong or inadequate. The first selected track is "bolded" - then when you change focus to anoither track the yellow surround shows the new focus, ...

Re: Mixing Tracks Question

I think all is pretty much OK. Instead of SHIFT + Click to select multiple tracks, you can up or down arrow and ENTER. Ah yes, I never realized how you coulld select multiple tracks - but there remains an underlying problem with that: the visual cues are either wrong or inadequate. The first select...

Re: Noise with USB turntable

The speakers are connected to the line in on my pc. The noise is a hum. It is to the point that I have to use my old computer with the previous version of audacity. I have to have the volume so low to get rid of the hum that I can't even enjoy what I am listening to. There is no hum when I am using...

Re: ACM and ADPCM

What I´ve meant was: In a software like cool edit, it is possible to discriminate between two types of wav files. The first is called 'Windows PCM (wav)', the second 'ACM Waveform (wav)'. The new EMU version works with both types. Now, we´ll use audicity for our audio preprocessing. I see, so ACM i...

Re: Record input extremely low

...it works fine when recording in stereo. Left level is perfect. Why is that again? My Tascam is a mono box. Is this a glitch or will this be the norm now? I will have to split track to mono each time I record, which is another step, but I guess if that's is what I need to do... Check in 1.2, I im...

Re: Mixing Tracks Question

Yes but - in both 1.3 and 1.2 in order to make the Mix&Render or the Quickmix to work properly you seem to need to have all the tracks selected (use CTRL-A keyboard shortcut). This will then mix and render the project down to a single track. However if you select only a single track and then ap...

Re: Noise with USB turntable

Well, I am STILL having issues with the feedback noise. I have done all things suggested. I hooked up the old computer with the previous version and have no sound issues at all. So this tells me it is an issue with the new version of Audacity. What exactly are these speakers connected to? Directly ...

Re: Record input extremely low

I'm not claiming to be an "expert" but Steve asked me to come and take a look. Have you got the latest US-144 firmware and drivers for XP ? Make sure you get the correct 32-bit drivers. If the Mixer Toolbar input slider is greyed out on maximum, this indicates Audacity does not have proper...

Re: Import using "Files of type: FFmpeg-compatible files" bu

Interesting...I noted that 1.3.11-alpha-Jan 18 2010 was importing multiple files with FFmpeg as I expected it should, however the final release of 1.3.11 beta has reverted back to the behavior I described above. Thankfully I grabbed that nightly alpha release when I did, because it solves my issue ...
