Re: Extreme distortion after exporting to Ogg
Hey, all, I mainly use Audacity to encode 12-track ogg files, and I was encoding a few earlier today and something strange happened. I encoded 5 files, all with the same settings as usual...4 worked just fine. The very first one I encoded came out garbled and distorted, also seemed like it was miss...

Re: Can't detect lame_enc.dll on Windows 7
I have tried everything that I know to get the beta to work in my windows 7 machines and will not find the lame.dll at all no matter what I do where I install it or anything . I have used Audacity for years and not had a problem with this lame. dll but this one is useless. I cannot get the beta to ...

Re: Always scans for VST Plug-ins on startup
Well, I downloaded a VST plug-in and loaded it and that seems to have resolved my issue. I would suggest others just download a Free VST, any VST, and load it. Quick and simple fix. Or you can open C:Documents and Settings<user name>Application DataAudacityplugins.cfg in Notepad and make the first ...

Re: Label- Slows down and stops program
This does appear to be a limitation in Audacity. I've just tried entering several hundred words into labels and as you say the program slows down considerably. For some reason handling labels seems to use a lot of CPU power and with enough labels I get one processor running at 100% for several minu...

Re: Set/Change default save location in Windows 7
As far as I understand it, (this is how it works on XP), the Save Project window always opens at the directory from which an .aup project file or audio file loaded was loaded . Otherwise, it will fall back to the working directory the first time Save is used, or after first use, to the last used di...

Re: Error saving message
Force quit? I doubt that most new users will try that. From their perspective there would not seem to be any apparent advantage to doing this; indeed they would likely fear that doing such might interfere with the Auto-Save function which is their seeming last hope for recovering their project. The...

Re: Error saving message
when the elves are tying to dig someone out of a problem, nobody is going to crank through that decision tree of safe characters. We can get people out of trouble immediately by invoking the "Universal Safe Character" list. Accepted that may be true of 1.2, and true of 1.3 where it has bu...

Re: Error saving message
VHF's issue was unknown to me before, but we've been over the rest of this many times I think. Can the "elves" bookmark this thread? Just to clarify, "" is perfectly legal on Mac and Linux, and should not be rejected on those OS'es. On Windows, it "should" be rejected, ...
