Re: Windows 7 Recording Workaround

In my Sound > Recording tab my only available device is Digital Input Device (SPDIF). The rest (2 microphones and line in) are unplugged. In my Playback tab, I have speakers that need to be the default device for me to hear, and Digital Output Device (SPDIF), both enabled. Headphones device is not ...

Re: Multiple Export meta tags

In current Beta versions, the easier way (IMO) to enter the information common to each track just once is: 1: Turn Metadata editor off for the export step, then 2: Enter the common metadata except Track Title and Track Number at File > Open Metadata Editor before the export step To turn Metadata Edi...

Re: File|Close shuts down software instead of project

Al Dimond has kindly worked on this problem and it will be fixed in 1.3.13 Beta. There will no longer be a preference "Closing last window quits Audacity" on any platform. On Windows and Linux, system close commands like clicking [X] on a window, using a taskbar command or invoking a syste...

Re: Changing Language to English

Thanks Steve. Should have guessed the Interface tab we wanted would be translated. :? For anyone else reading who wants to change language to English but cannot understand the language the menus are in now, you can change language in the Audacity settings, or by navigating in a numerical fashion lik...

Re: Audacity 1.2.6 and Exporting as FLAC

In spite of what the Release Notes say for 1.2.6, FLAC support I believe only works for import in Windows and Mac. FLAC export is broken and won't be fixed because we are no longer developing 1.2. FLAC import and export should work on Linux if you compile with a modern libflac but I think few people...

Silence Generation

To try and clarify. In 1.3, only the DTMF and Noise Generators remember their duration from one Audacity session to another when generating at a point. The others will default to 30 seconds. If you drag a region, remembering a length is irrelevant. None of the generators remember the selection forma...

Re: Posting Sound

FLAC would be a very useful one as it is lossless compression and supported by Audacity (on all platforms?) OK I've added FLAC as an allowable extension in the "Downloadable files" group - all files in that group have an upload limit of 1 MB. FLAC is supported in all three platforms in 1....

Re: 1.3.12 Beta language choice in Interface

then "Language" in Preferences should show "System" and "English". If the system language was English, obviously those choices amount to the same thing. Yes, that's what I mean. The choice is "System" or "English" and defaults to "System",...

Re: MP3 distortion

...I stlll remember (looks like many many years ago) when ogg vorbis first showed up... it was not a very popular format then... but after many positive reviews and many wins in blind listening tests ogg vorbis started to make its way into most audio players... such as winamp, vlc, etc... Unfortuna...

Re: 1.3.12 Beta language choice in Interface

I don't have that option in the Linux, (though it can be configured manually) - is it just Windows that has the option in Preferences or has Mac got it also, or is it that I only have English language support installed in my Linux installation? Should work on Linux as well as Mac and Windows - It d...
