Re: How to Download & Make the LAME program work
I'm not sure what the difference is (trying to find out), but if the .exe version does not work, the .zip version appears to fix the problem. Leland built the 3.98.2 lame_enc.dlls for Windows, but it would seem from his build scripts that one of the differences is that the dll in the zip file conta...

Re: Move Plug-ins and Modules folders
+1. I'm usually using the latest nightly build, and don't want to clobber the previous version on install, so I install in a new "Program Files" folder. Then it's a PITA to move all my extra plug-ins to the new plug-ins folder. I don't want to move the standard plug-ins, in case one of th...

Re: Move Plug-ins and Modules folders
What have you updated that causes the problem - Ubuntu? I had no issues accessing existing plug-ins after updating to Ubuntu 10.04 and then installing Audacity compiled from SVN (plug-ins and nyquist folders at usr/local/share/audacity). Are you talking about installing an updated Audacity package, ...

Re: Poll: Typing into label tracks without CTRL + B first
One other feedback from my e-mail trawl: "I get hit/confused by the "P for Pause" problem a lot... but I also switch method a lot depending on what I am doing...sometimes I'll use Apple-M to add the marker as it plays, other times it'll suit me to type the marker straight in the track...

Re: Poll: Typing into label tracks without CTRL + B first
...So while you're typing and the singer is singing, the only ambiguous key is "P?" None of the Control, Alt, or Command keys do anything nasty if pressed by accident? I don't think P is ambiguous when immediate typing, even with the current bug. If the cursor is in the label track and th...

Re: Feedback request: Typing into label tracks
To save too much more inline-posting, here is a link to the current -devel list thread: http://audacity.238276.n2.nabble.com/Feedback-request-Typing-into-label-tracks-td4956423.html Sound Finder uses the same algorithm as Silence Finder, so it will depend in the same way on the settings chosen to de...

Re: Where did the broad wiki listing go?
We upgraded the MediaWiki software for Wiki to latest 1.15.3. The Manual uses 1.15.1 and that version of the software does not have this new "system" of insisting on splitting the all pages list into two. The upgrade is also why the Sidebar has changed (Search not at the top) and why we ha...

Re: Feedback request: Typing into label tracks
Actually, there can be some very interesting discussions on the Forum about features and the best behaviour thereof That's fine, but I want this thread (and the -users list thread) to remain focused on finding exactly how valuable the create-label-by-typing behavior is. That's because removing it i...

Re: Feedback request: Typing into label tracks
Generally I don't want this thread to become a behavior argument. Discussions of what exactly is correct behavior probably belong either on -devel, the bug report, or a private email discussion. Here I just want to collect information about whether people are aware of and using this specific featur...

Re: "file not well formed in line 6" error?
I should clarify this a bit. The writing of non-printable characters and/or Unicode characters to the .aup should now be corrected. I do not know how the control characters (0x01 and 0x0d) were getting into the file in the first place and if anyone can provide a way to reproduce it that'd be great....
