Re: How to record onto an existing track?
I'm recording myself reading a play. Every time I stop, then start recording again, Audacity creates a new track but I don't want it to do that. I want to be able to specify a track and add my recording on the end of it. The idea is that the dialogue for person A will be on track 1 and the dialogue...

Re: No longer recording sound.
I've been using Audacity 1.3 Beta for putting sound over some gameplay videos. Everything was working fine earlier today, I had no changes to the computer, and Fraps and other programs are still able to record my mic with no problem. I press the record and the bars dont respond , I haven't changed ...

Re: Disappearing Icon!
For me, after clearing the icon cache and rebooting, the Audacity icon has now reappeared on label-less icons.Gale Andrews wrote:I'd have guessed it to be an icon cache corruption problem. You could try these instructions to reset icon cache ...

Re: Selecting Clip Problems, HELP?
Okay so a few weeks ago I installed Audacity 1.3 on my Windows Vista computer. At first it was working fine when I would cut and select clips, I could shrink the bars if I wanted. Then a week or so passed and it wouldn't let me do that anymore. It only lets me record by a certain chop of a section ...

Re: FFMPEG and mp3 without separate LAME encoder trick.
Is it also somehow technically possible to use an "external" codec like FFDShow? I'm curious now! :) Yes in principle, choosing (external program) in the Export File window, which is a command line interface. I'm not 100% sure how to feed it an arbitrary path to the encoder, but if you pu...

Re: FFMPEG and mp3 without separate LAME encoder trick.
I've just installed the new beta version of Audacity here, along with the FFMPEG libraries. I was surprised that mp3 encoding still wanted to use the LAME encoding library only, since encoding the mp3 format is one of FFMPEG's specialties, and I thought Audacity would use the second library if the ...

Re: Mic working but not picking up any sound
We have been working fine with Audacity using it to pick up recordings from a Sony digital dictaphone and from a childrens play keyboard. We have not plugged these into the computer. It has been fine for my son so far. We are pretty basic in our use and understanding. We have used the mic that is a...

Re: Right Channel Static Left Channel Clear
I am using the new windows 7 beta version and have a standard installed realtek soundcard. I am recording with an M Audio Producer USB mic and when I do basic recording and burn to a CD and play on my home stereo system the left channel sounds great but I get a lot of static on my right channel tha...

Re: Disappearing Icon!
I just downloaded the Beta 1.3 version for Win 7 which is set up for 64 bits but handles 32 OK. I installed the Audacity icon in the start menu and after a few restarts, it went generic! I reinstalled Audacity with the same results. It's not the end of the world, but I'd like to have the icon. Any ...
