Re: Playback

I am new to this and its driving me NUTS. Seem like every time I start Audacity, I get a different result. I seem to be recording OK but I get no sound on playback. Have before; can't now. All I'm trying to do is download casette tapes so I can burn a CD. Nothing complicated. Read the relevant tuto...

Re: mono import into stereo track

Hi there, Just wondering if there is anyway to change a mono track into a stereo track. My input track is only playing in the left speaker but I would like it to play in both speakers. Do you mean you are recording, and if so do you want to record stereo or mono? If mono, set recording channels to ...

Re: How to move/drag more than one track at the same time?

Upgrade Audacity to version 1.3.12 then it's just: Ctrl+A (select All) F5 key (Time Shift tool, or click on the button with the double headed arrow) Click on any of the tracks and drag. Re: microphone mono

tried using audacity 13.0 beta for the first time today and that the recording input is seeing my sound card as being microphone mono however the older software version sees it as stereo which it is. Any advice as I would really like to use the newer version but obviously can't because of this prob...

Re: Text Envelope 0.8 beta

I had a look at the Help. The Quick Help "overview" had the OK/Cancel buttons almost hidden on my Ubuntu system which I've corrected. I corrected a "Conrol" typo and clarified in the overview that negative values can be used with any Time Unit, and you don't need to add "+&q...

Re: Repeated Command

Thanks, Steve. I thought it was potentially useful enough to copy it to this thread in the Nyquist board.

Nyquist Silence Generator effect

You cannot have a Nyquist *effect* plug-in that generates at a point - but it can almost be done if you create a very small selection to replace with. This lets you use the CTRL + R "Repeat last effect" shortcut to repeatedly generate silence (CTRL + R currently cannot be used to repeat Ge...

Re: Some thoughts on the 1.3 version

It's normal operating system behaviour (Windows and Linux/GNOME anyway) that if "recent files" extends past the right of the screen space, its list extends downwards (so covering some or all of the current menu) if there is also insufficient space to left of the current application to fit ...

Re: Using The Hard Limiter

With the Hard Limiter (Ladspa effect), I tend to keep the "residual" level set at around 0.3 as this helps to prevent the effect from being too harsh. The Wet level should normally be set at 1, and the dB limit adjusted to produce the required amount of "soft clipping". There's ...
