Re: Ethernet Device setting for recording??
I've been fighting tons of noise using the USB input on my laptop with Audacity for recording. I have pretty conclusively narrowed it down to the new Gateway laptop is putting noise out to my USB mixer. Aside from using a cleaner power supply, how many USB devices have you connected to the computer...

Re: Ethernet Device setting for recording??
That's because you can't do that. Ethernet and networking in general don't do live audio (or video) because of the oddball delays. Ethernet is not like making a land-line phone call and then hanging up. Ethernet works on transmission, correction, and collision management. The first data collision a...

Re: How to move/drag more than one track at the same time?
How can you do what - move more than one track at once? Read the messages from the start of this thread. It is easiest to move more than one track at once in Audacity Beta.huafeihua116 wrote:How Can i do that?

Re: Sliding Pitch and Time Crash
Just updated - It does seem faster, and no crashes yet :) Just one thought - the interface is quite a lot longer (vertical height) than before - will people with small screens (800 x 600) be able to reach the "OK" button? Thanks Clayton for adding a % control for pitch! But yes on Ubuntu ...

Re: mono import into stereo track
I downloaded a karaoke track mp3 but when I play it in Audacity (and other programs), it only plays in the left speaker.I want to change it so that it plays in both speakers. OK so when you import the MP3 into Audacity it says "Stereo" above the mute/solo buttons, is that so? So use that ...

Re: Project instability in 1.3
I don't have to save projects, just work in a repetitive way on the temporary data in the same small spots over an hour or so. Not everyone who works like that will get the problem, but I know several people who are still troubled by this even in 1.3.12. Unless I can't finish in a session I wouldn't...

Re: custom VBR settings
For talking I would like to be able to use a VBR ranging from 24 to 48. I'd also like to have music settings different from what comes with the program. Is there any relatively easy way of creating some of my own VBR settings (short of customizing the program code)? The "Preset" button ju...

Project instability in 1.3
Yes, 1.3.12 is significantly less liable to crash for me too than a few Betas before, it has improved. I rarely have more than four tracks but will often peg away at edits at the same spot in one track and this seems to be the crux of my problem, either in that spot or immediately when I move to ano...

Re: Minimum length mod for Silence Marker and Sound Finder
Thanks, Daga. I pushed Steve's modification to a couple of people I know who work with audio books and a couple who record lectures. All three who found the modification useful suggested a longer maximum for "minimum distance". Both audio book people suggested 15 - 30 minutes which they th...

Project instability in 1.3
Audacity 1.3.12 is in my opinion definitely the way to go. For me 1.3.12 remains liable to crashes on Windows (both XP and 7) if doing repetitive editing over long periods of time (think 100+ edits or so). That's really the only advantage for me that 1.2.6 has and possibly that intensity of editing...
