Re: After Pause why does Stop move the cursor?
The real "Feature Request" is "Audacity should be able to edit when paused" I think. I suspect that would be a huge upheaval, intuitive as it might be if you are thinking along the lines of a mechanical piece of equipment. Do you always use the mouse to stretch for the Pause butt...

Re: File menu missing
I am using audacity that ships with Fedora 13. I noticed that the file menu is missing! (I have all of the toolbars/buttons at the top of the window, but no menus). Anyone know how to fix this? Please post an image of the entire screen if what bgravato wrote does not help. Some possibilities: the t...

Re: "Not Responding" with 'Fit Project' or 'Zoom Out' button
"Busy" will be indicated by the cursor. "Not responding" is an operating system message, often if you try to take actions when the program can't accept them. If there was a modal progress dialogue on waveform display, it might be less likely to produce a non-responding state beca...

Re: HOW DO I EXTRACT AUDIO FROM A DVD?
That's the encoded Video Object, with usually four of them making up the actual movie (given no funny business protection) with the rest of the 8GB taken up with director comments and coming attractions. However, you still can't "just" decode the audio streams. You have to render the vide...

Re: YAMAHA PSR 3000
Replying to my own posting; some success at last. Reading through the on-line PDF from iMic I see that the box 'Software Playthrough' on the Edit>Preferences needs to be checked. The recorded sound from my PSR 3000 is still way less than the stirling results from YouTube et al.. Software Playthroug...

Re: Sliding Pitch and Time Crash
I'm guessing your project rate is 48000Hz instead of 44100Hz? If this is the case, then I get buggy behavior too. This is related to the inverted pitch shift. I'll fix this, and if 44100Hz works for you on windows 7 then I'll commit. Yes, I was beginning to wonder if sample rate or format was an is...

Re: Removing and Isolating Vocals Help
Please read the Wiki again. Unless you have access to the tracks that went into the mix, there is no guarantee you can separate the tracks out of the mix. Kn0ck0ut can try and isolate center-panned material. Try the shareware tools if you want to see if cepstral methods will help. See if you can fin...

Re: Sliding Pitch and Time Crash
I can't reproduce any of the windows 7 problems on my fresh visual c++ 2008 32 bit build. Can you give more details on your build? Which compiler are you using? Is it 64bit or something? I've built: a) Unicode Release from fresh checkout on Win 7 x64, Visual C++ 2008 Express 32-bit (there isn't a 6...

Re: Motorola Droid Voice
How can I make the Motorola Droid startup sound, but my own words, instead of 'DROID'? Thanks! :D You will have to drag or record the file for that sound off the Droid smartphone , edit it in Audacity then replace the file on the smartphone. You will need to find out what format and bit rate the fi...
