Re: Smoothing out computer generated speech
I've uploaded an example voice from Festival here to make it easier for people to help. It is the "Alan" voice saying "This is a computer-synthesized voice". I thought Effect > Compression helped quite a lot. You might want to try Truncate Silence (in 1.3 Beta)too especially if y...

Re: Text Envelope 0.8 beta
This irritation has come up before in connection with some of David Sky's proposed plug-ins. I'm inclined to think a better approach is to let the user type what is the recognised decimal separator for them in all user-level input boxes, then standardise the variables separator to something that's ...

Re: Go Mic not acknowledged
Thank you for the link. Unfortunately it still didn't pick up the microphone. I noticed though the desktop had no problem. The desktop is 1.26 and the laptop is the beta 1.3. I have removed the Beta version and downloaded the prior one which now seems to record. I plan on staying with the stable ve...

Re: PNGs Recompressed
Thanks for the idea and the downloads. The compression achieved is quite good. What actually happens for each Beta release is that the Manual contents are dumped from the Wiki, and we have to use that content because it will be most current. Then the documentation, executable and supporting folders ...

Re: After Pause why does Stop move the cursor?
I'm confused as to how you select to the end after pausing - nothing seems to select anything using the playback cursor as a start point. Currently my method is: - Pause at track end - Shift A to stop and set cursor (not great since it's an unintuitive step, a hidden option and it may shift the cur...

Re: increasing volume output of an mp3 track
When using the amplifty effect, amplify to a bit less than 0.0dB to avoid clipping (-1.0dB should be safe, -2.0dB will be safer) If I'm following, I think the reason for this is that MP3 is a lossy "psycho-acoustical" encoding (it selects the audio to retain on the basis of it being the m...

Re: Need audacity expert to clean up a wav file $$
I'm in the process of editing some home movies (using MS MovieMaker) which were originally VHS. They've been converted to mpeg --> avi --> wav. :o My issue is, I have a small (7 min) speech which I would like to clean up - as the audio is very muffled. I have read the webinars and used the noise co...

Re: Export quality settings should be more visible
I've just discovered that all of my supposed 32-bit 96KHz recordings have been exported in 16 bit i.e. I've been caught out by the fact that export quality settings are buried under the Options button and not configurable under Preferences. (See more details at http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtop...

Re: Non functioning Pause Button when recording
You just threw some mud in the game. Macs will not record live or downloading audio without some other provision like additional hardware or special purpose software. Either could easily be what's causing the problem. jumbuck70 can speak for himself, but as he was recording LP tracks I guess he mea...
