Re: DJ Multitrack Mix - Max Number of Tracks?
Audacity can't cope well with really large numbers of tracks in a single project window. You can copy and paste tracks between different Audacity windows (CTRL + C, File > New, CTRL + V) and work on a subset of tracks at a time. The next Beta version 1.3.13 has tried to address this by changes to th...

Re: Need expert in live audio restoration on-the-fly
I have installed Audacity 1.3 and old problem with saving audio as MusicOnHold mono, 16 bit, 8000 Hz PCM wav. I am saving wav file as 8000 Hz, as set up in Preferences / Quality / Sampling and on opening get file resampled to 44100 Hz 75 kb/s OK I set project rate to 8000 Hz and now can open wav fi...

Re: Sending users to our documentation
Personally I still think the links in that dark blue colour on the darkish blue header background do not stand out nearly enough to be clearly visible - remember we had a long discussion about this a while back - regarding colours and font size for the link text.) -1 on making the font size any lar...

Re: Odd echoes of recording repeated every 6 secs
One other user e-mailed recently suggesting append-record in 1.3.12 was "reproducing previous bits" but I could not get any elaboration. There isn't enough detail in your report as to your tracks and recording device setup and what you are trying to do. I assume it's an overdub recording (...

Re: Imac "hears" USB mic but Audacity doesn't
After posting for help, I went into the MIDI controls, changed the input device to the USB, and the mic now shows in the Core Audio dropdown, and seems to work fine. Closed and reopened and all is well. Thanks, I think you mean Apple Audio MIDI Setup? Here are more instructions to do that. Gale

Re: Audacity and Media Player on Windows 7 notebooks
Yes, the recordings really are terrible (in loss of dynamic range) if the input volume is pushed way up for a signal via imic usb, when relying on the meter clipping alarm. After some wasted time an affected new user will figure it out, and use other indicators of an excessive recording volume. Wel...

Re: Need audacity expert to clean up a wav file $$
It's pretty hopelessly damaged through excessive input volume. Given the average RMS light blue level is getting on for +/-1 (the maximum digital audio can capture unless using 32-bit float), I would imagine the peaks would have been at about +2. I did try Edit > Clipfix but it made little differenc...

Re: After Pause why does Stop move the cursor?
Well I read and re-read all this several times and I still don't get the aligning of the cursor piece. The movable cursor does not show any sign of aligning with the playback cursor any which way I move it. The select tool cursor does not change when you hover over the playback cursor obviously. I ...

Re: Behringer UFO-202 records mono, not stereo?
Make sure the default format for the Behringer is set to stereo . I assume your first sentence means to check within Audacity preferences and look at the recording section of devices. It means click the underlined link and follow all the instructions there including setting the default format in Wi...

Re: Sending users to our documentation
I'm not quite so sure about the link to "Tips". We considered a troubleshooting page or category on the Wiki but it kind of cut across the existing structure. I think the current front page is in essence a mini troubleshooter. Maybe it would be better to link there instead of Tips? How ab...
