Re: Autorecord cuts off first 1000ms
In the Recording Preferences, reduce "Audio to buffer" slightly (this may cause dropouts) - the default is 100 ms :? Does that mean it doesn't help, or you don't know what to change? What are you recording, with what equipment, and how is it connected to the computer? I don't lose more th...

Re: 1.3.12 beta crashes
I've had no problems with 1.2...everything worked fine. Removed it completely and downloaded 1.3.12 for the new features. This machine runs XP and has two soundcards...Realtek on the motherboard and a Sound Blaster 512. I like to use the SB since it sounds better, but if the SB card is selected in ...

Re: Cannot play one track on my laptop, works on my desktop
I copied an audacity project and its data folder to a jump drive. The project consists of a tune ripped from CD plus a single recorded stereo track. I can play and record fine from the original project on my desktop PC, AND I can also use the project on the jump drive if it is plugged into my deskt...

Re: exporting wav to ulaw
I have a telephony application running on Windows platform. Requirements for wav files are CCITT u-law, mono 8bit, 8khz. I take a standard wav pcm file, modify it and export the file to ulaw; the application will not play the file. If I take the same pcm file and use MS Sound recorder to convert it...

Re: Editing audio from a VCD
And yes, TMPGEnc will cheerfully convert back and forth between the MPEG versions and layers, but my license was money-based. Doesn't the demo do something messy to the show? The link I gave was to TmegEnc Free . It doesn't as I recall stamp logos on the video or things like that, but there is no M...

Re: Application of effects crashes Audacity 1.3.12-2
In reply to Gale Andrews' posting of Fri Jul 16, 2010 10:21 pm, both rates are the same (44100 Hz) before trying to apply the tempo shift. I can't tell what happens to the project rate after I have clicked to apply the change, because the whole Audacity window simply disappears! Then please build S...

Re: Autorecord cuts off first 1000ms
Auto-record is a neat feature but it cuts off the first 500-1000ms. Audacity doesn't have a feature called "Auto-record". If you mean Sound Activated Recording in 1.3 Beta, it doesn't have a pre-roll, so you can't do much except possibly: Reduce the activation level (move the slider left)...

Re: "skip" while recording
I am using a PC with Windows Vista. I record through a lexicon Alpha interface. generally i have had no problems recording, although I just do it in mono so far. The only thing I have noticed is that once in a while while recording the cursor is moving from left to right, as it should, and it kinda...

Re: Bug?: Rendering tracks when openning a compressed proje
Does the _data folder of the project contain one .ogg file or two? If two, then I presume there is a shortage of RAM (check if you have "Audio Cache" enabled in the Directories preferences) or a video driver problem.

Re: Editing audio from a VCD
I'm running 1.3.12 beta. The VCD file is having .DAT extension, not .mpg nor .mpeg. Do I need to first convert .DAT to .MPG/.MPEG? If so, is there any recommendation on which tool to use? OK, if it's a commercial VCD, yes the files will have .dat extension. To be honest, I don't think anyone has as...
