Thanks for the attachment and topic links. I wouldn't expect u-Law with AU extension to work as someone in one of those topcis was trying. Does the attached u-Law file produced by Audacity 1.2.6 have the same problem?

Re: Cisco Phone Prompts and WAV U-Law format
I'd love to know if there is a way to set up the "8 Bit, Mono 7kb/sec" I presume that you men as an Export format? If you Export a mono file in MP3 format, then it will be exported in mono. 7kbps is a non-standard bit rate for MP3's and as far as I know it is not supported. In Audacity 1....

Re: Editing audio from a VCD
Thanks Coz. What's the best way I can convert this orignal VCDs to a better format such that I can improve the audio quality? I'm not sure converting the .dat file is going to help much. Any conversion to another format will incur some quality losses unless you encode to a lossless video format lik...

Re: Timer recording fails as does recovery
If you saved a project (or tried to) and produced a _data folder at time of saving, there won't be any crash recovery. Recovery is only for unsaved data (that could be either temporary, never saved data, or data that had been saved as a project but was then further modified without saving). We know ...

Re: Problem with recording - pitch changes
After years of using Audacity for editing audio files and speech recording I've decided to try to record real music. I have Yamaha keyboard connected to my PC, I can hear sound and I can record it... But! When I play a recorded track it sounds a half-tone higher than the original! Needless to say t...

Re: Crash when importing ac3
Hi. I am running Audacity 1.3.12 on Windows7 Professional 64bit. I ran Audacity some weeks ago and I could import .ac3 files without problems using FFMpeg for audacity. Now when I try to import/export an .ac3 file I get an error: "Audacity the Cross-Platform Sound editor has stopped working&qu...

Re: free Bartlett book how to record - whats the catch?
Without contacting the publishers it's impossible to be sure if they have authorised the above e-book distribution, but the item is on legitimate sale in paperback and audio book form, including very inexpensive second hand copies. Even if you dodge the popups from the ebooksx links, there is a risk...

Re: exporting wav to ulaw
I did verify that the file is set to 8khz (in lower left corner). I too saw that MS Sound recorder indicated the file was in the proper format. I downloaded Audacity 1.3.12 and tried that with the same results. I cannot give you access to the system or application for proprietary reasons and custom...

Re: Enoyeing tone!
When I have downloaded vinylrecords to my computer and created mp3 or wawfiles and then listen to the music I hear a little tone every 30 second only 1/10 second long. How do I get red of that sound? Please help me! Turn off all the sound effects in your sound card and make sure you only obtain Aud...
Re: HELP HELP
Whatever cable you connect from the earphone of the dictaphone to the computer, it either has to connect to a recording device in the computer (such as the red mic port of your computer) or has to be a USB recording device itself so that Audacity will see it in the Devices Preferences as a recording...
