Re: Need help with recording
I am trying to record something for a PowerPoint presentation with audacity. My microphone is a cheap one from Wal-Mart. Audacity won't pick up my voice unless I am very close to the microphone, but when I get that close to the microphone the air coming out of my mouth is picked up also and makes f...

Re: Low Record Volume in Win7
If you record with Windows Sound Recorder is it the same problem?
Is this the Lexicon product you are using? Are you connecting it to the computer via USB or via line-in?

Re: Converting 4400 Hz to 1600 Hz
I am new in here. Happy user of Audacity for two years:) I need help with one problem, that is I need to convert a 4400 Hz 16 bit 256kbps Mono into 1600 Hz. Is that possible without destroying the sound (goes much to slow) in the recording? I have already answered the user by e-mail. I have moved t...

Re: music info missing
can you suggest what I might set the Normalize effect settings for? 0.5 or 1.0 or ? I am digitizing very old reel-to-reel tapes. The values are negative values with the highest (loudest) possible being -0.0. Some people like -3.0. Experiment. Open reel tapes often aren't at a very high level, so yo...

Re: Testers needed for Mac 1.3.13 Alpha to resolve bug fixes
I pulled up a show at 50 min 26 sec. 44100, 32-bit floating, Stereo and applied -86% tempo and -12% pitch to a 3 min 25 sec. segment and it did it. Audacity did not crash or hang. Hi Koz I meant select all of the longer piece so in this case apply Time Scale with the same settings to the 50 min 26 ...

Re: Need to record 30 min audio for web upload
Curiously, current Adobe Flash Player I believe supports Speex, so that's one way of distributing it on the internet. Just to clarify, Audacity does not support it, so export it as WAV (not MP3) from Audacity and then convert it to Speex elsewhere, so that you only perform one lossy encoding.

Re: Testers needed for Mac 1.3.13 Alpha to resolve bug fixes
I tried the sliding scale #170. It didn't crash with those settings. Thanks. Would it be possible to test those settings with a longer selection like 30 minutes or so? The length seemed to affect its robustness before. I did note that the performance pitch went up a half-tone at the beginning of th...

Mac Mini 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo 2GB memory Mac OS-X 10.6.4 Snow Leopard Audacity 1.3.13 Aug 11 2010 Fresh Install. Default values. 35 MP3 files, each about 38 seconds long. It didn't appear to change at all between the earlier Audacity and 1.3.13. Alpha. The History panel seems to update immediate...

Re: Generating music from scratch?
There is a Nyquist Audio Selection Sequencer 2 which you can add to the "Plug-Ins" folder inside the Audacity installation folder, and that's about it that I know of. On Windows computers the Audacity installation folder is usually under "Program Files". Restart Audacity and the ...
