Re: Questions about maintaining audio quality when exporting
What I want to do is some minor trimming and a fade out effect, and then export it again, preferably as an AAC file. However, when I export it as M4A/AAC, there's a quality scale from 10-500, and regardless of what I choose, it seems like the final product is a constant 198 Kbps rather than being v...

Re: Volume Control Function - Just dBFS?
A little OT, but still in the "exclusive mode" "mixer bypass" discussion, here is a 25 second audio file of six samples of base noise - three using the Roland Quad-Capture and three using my laptop Conexant microphone. The Roland had no input mic and the output level was set for...

Re: Volume Control Function - Just dBFS?
This is the question that I think is still unanswered. WASAPI in exclusive mode is similar to ASIO but I'm not 100% sure that it prevents resampling. Why exactly are you not 100% sure? Windows should not be applying explicit sample rate or bit depth conversions. Gale You mention about Windows apply...

Re: Help with help
I reinstalled Audacity according to your instructions, but it still says I haven't installed the help file or manual Have you tried rebooting the mac? Is anything else missing in Audacity? For example do you have Generate > Click Track... ? If reboot does not help, try right-click or CONTROL-click ...

Re: Some problems, applying Bass and Treble.
I've enjoyed Real-time preview effects less than I thought because I am usually applying the effect to all of one track only. And if for some effect I have chosen settings I want to keep, then the extra click becomes a nuisance, unless it is appropriate to "repeat last effect".

Re: removing audio from .MOV file
I'm of the opinion now that this forum whilst excellent for audio related issues... Is the wrong place to get the answer to my question about splitting up a .MOV file which is only an MP4 video file in a container with an audio file. We don't claim to be a video forum. For example there is http://w...

For the benefit of others, this is the same as Hz.prout wrote:128 samples per second
Thanks for the input.

Re: Missing data block files after crash
My Mac Mini has never deleted Audacity's temp files in /var/folders/ while sleeping, unless Mac laptops behave differently. If AutoRecovery from temp files encounters missing block files, or otherwise cannot read the temp folder where the block files are, it replaces the block files with silence wit...

Re: Volume Slider has no effect
What is the make and model number of the USB preamp? Does it need special drivers? Does the volume slider for the USB device in Windows Sounds and Audio Devices have any effect? It probably doesn't, because the Audacity slider "should" operate the Windows slider directly, and be greyed out...

Re: How do I import drivers to Audacity?
Now my only issue is when I'm recording, my mic is not recognized. Or I don't think it is. When I'm recording, it records off of the mic in the PC and I'd like it to record from the mic I'm using. To record from a mic connected to the UMC, you must choose the USB recording device. The mic is connec...
