Re: Problem importing large files
Thanks for the helpful info. I didn't know that disk writing mirrored RAM caching outside of recording. That does foil my expectation of faster operations. In fact Audio caching should produce slower operations as both memory and disk must be updated instead of just disk. Sounds like the RAM drive,...

Re: Recording level too hgh - Help
I've seen several users sugegst that USB input level is much higher on Windows 7 then previous Windows versions, though I suspect it could be somewhat machine dependent. Have you already tried turning the input down in "Sound" in the Windows Control Panel (Recording tab, then right-click o...

Re: Behrenger UCA202 - microphone only record option
Regarding UCA/UFO-202, the only way to control the level going into the computer (via the USB connection) is by controlling the level input to the device. If you recorded input in the UCA/UFO 202 and then cabled from the output to the computer, does the output contain the input? I guess most people...

Re: Recording BBC Radio programmes
Steve, <Could you remind me what your current settings are in the playback tab of the Windows Control Panel and in Audacity Preferences > Devices. If you've not done so already - try recording some radio (without changing any settings).> In Control Panel, I clicked on RealTek HD Audio Manager RealT...

Re: Behrenger UCA202 - microphone only record option
Actually I've just noted on our Wiki Recommended Sound Devices page, it does say that there is no way to control the UCA 202 input level, and I noticed that Steve has an old copy of UCA 202 which he reviewed here on the Forum. He says (using it on Linux Ubuntu 9.04) "No matter what settings I u...

Re: Behrenger UCA202 - microphone only record option
Sounds and Audio Devices is greyed out for "volume" and "advanced" in Sound Recording. Both are enabled in Playback OK. Then no application such as Audacity will be able to control the input volume unless the Behringer has its own control panel to do so. Your only possibility wo...

Re: Sliding Pitch and Time Crash
Hi Clayton, I would post your points/questions to -devel list so that more people can see them. If you post to -devel using the e-mail address you registered on this Forum, it will go through automatically. I would assume in audacity-patches.txt you want to state the "Version in Audacity SVN&qu...

Re: Behrenger UCA202 - microphone only record option
when I tried a recording test the input volume level never changed. Even at 0.0 there is recorded sound. Moving the slider to 1.0 does not change the recording level If the Audacity input slider has no effect when you select USB Audio Codec as the Recording Device in Audacity Preferences, you can a...

Re: W. 7 & AUDACITY BETA RECORDING input dropdown menu ques
PortAudio v18 is used by Audacity 1.2.6 but a different version of Audacity is not likely to help whatever your problem is. When you look in the recording (right-hand) side of Device Toolbar, what choices do you see? Select the device that says "stereo mix", "wave out", "wha...
